We expect a batting-friendly pitch for the final at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. AKS scored 210 in the semi-final while batting first against Thrissur Titans.
Whereas, Calicut Globstars successfully defended a 173-run total against Trivandrum Royals in the 1st semi-final. When AKS were defending 210 in the 2nd semi-final, there was enough help for the batters on the pitch as the Titans scored at 10 r.p.o.
It looks like we are all set for an exciting thriller in the Final of the Kerala Cricket League. Both teams are coming into this match with winning momentum and in-form batters.
Abhishek Nair and Sachin Baby are in fine touch in the Sailors’ top order while skipper Kunnummal and Akhil Scaria are scoring consistently in the top 3 of the Globstars’ lineup.
AKS have a 2-0 lead on Calicut Globstars in head-to-head matches so far. Will they make it 3-0 or will Calicut beat the Sailors when it matters the most?

Calicut Globstars are in great form with 3 consecutive wins. Skipper Rohan Kannummal was back in the XI for the semi-final after Akhil Scaria had led the team in the last league stage game.
Before sitting out that game, Kannummal had scored a hundred against Trivandrum Royals. And when he was back in the side for the semi-final against the same opposition, the skipper scored a quickfire 64 off 34 balls opening for the Globstars.
The captain’s opening partner Omar Abubacker is out of form and has struggled to score at even run-a-ball. His lack of runs was overshadowed by Kannummal’s consistent performances. The middle order, however, looks solid with in-form batters Akhil Scaria and Salman Nizar.
M Ajinas, who often bats at number 4 and was a consistent run-scorer for Calicut early in the league stage has lost his rhythm lately. That is a major concern for the Globstars going into the Final.
However, this can also be sorted by bringing in Sanjay Raj at number 5 to Ajinas find his rhythm back. Raj was the substitute player in the semi-final and did not bat. Pallam Anfal and Liston Augustine are ideal in the lower order but the choice will be between Augustine and Abhijith Parveen for number 7.
Scaria is also crucial with the ball and is in fine touch. Nikhil M and Sivraj S are other key bowlers to watch out for in this squad.
Rohan Kunnummal (c), Omar Abubacker, Akhil Scaria, M Ajinas (wk), Salman Nizar, Pallam Anfal, Abhijit Praveen, Nikhil M, Ajith Vasudevan, Sivaraj S, Akhil Dev V

Aries Kollam Sailors won the 2nd semi-final by 16 runs as they successfully defended 210 runs. This was their 3rd win in 4 matches. Before the back-to-back wins in the last 2 games, AKS had lost a match to Trivandrum Royals.
They finished with just 138 runs on the board while batting first and lost by 4 wickets. It was merely a hiccup in their dominance of the Kerala Cricket League in 2024.
They had chased down 173 before that loss and followed it up with back-to-back wins with the batters delivering consistently. Abhishek Nair scored a big hundred in the semi-final while skipper Sachin Baby was unbeaten on 83 off 49 balls.
Baby has looked in good touch lately with an attacking approach to his batting in the middle-order. Many batting options in the lower middle order can step up and deliver crucial partnerships.
Arjun AK, Vathsal Govind, and Sharafuddeen NM are the key batters for Aries Kollam Sailors in the middle order. Each of these has played a crucial knock helping the team to a big score or a successful run chase.
And though the bowlers have been quite expensive in recent outings, Sachin Baby will back them to bounce back in this game. And if Sailors can post a 200+ score while batting first, they would be confident of defending the score even with the current bowling form.
Sarafuddeen NM, Basil NP, and Sudhesan Midhun are the key wicket-takers for AKS. They will be ed by Biju Narayanan and the skipper as well. There is variety but they lack consistency and momentum as far as the bowling goes.
Abhishek Nair, Arun Poulose, Sachin Baby (c), Sharafuddeen NM, Vathsal Govind, Rahul Sharma, Arjun AK (wk), Biju Narayanan, Sudhesan Midhun, KM Asif, Basil NP, Vijay Viswanath

It will be a clear and sunny day in Thiruvananthapuram on the match day with a high of 31 degrees Celsius. We can expect the pitch to get even better for batting in the Final and with clear weather, there will be no threat of losing overs to rain or a washout.
It is a balanced wicket where batters have enjoyed great in the 1st innings for quite some time. However, after seeing how the Titans performed while chasing in the 2nd semi-final we can say that the pitch offers even bounce and pace throughout the game. 160 runs is the average 1st innings score in the last 8 matches of the Kerala Cricket League. Teams batting first have crossed the 170-run mark in 3 of the last 5 matches here.
Though 7 of the last 10 matches went in favor of the team bowling first, in a high-stakes encounter like this, batting first has some advantages. The nerves are high in a knockout match and chasing a competitive total could be more challenging now than during the league stage. A few early wickets could set the team back making the run-chase even more difficult. As such, to have runs on the board is the way to go in this Final.
With both teams in great form with the bat and the pitch also helping the batters, this final promises to be a thrilling encounter. Aries Kollam Sailors have beaten Calicut twice so far and seem stronger on paper. However, Calicut Globstars’ bowling is in great form with consistent success and in comparison looks more threatening. Calicut Globstars will start with a slight edge in our match prediction.
