As we approach Match 29 of 42 games in the group stage of the 2024 Bangladesh Premier League, it's a good time to take stock of the table and understand exactly what teams need at this stage of the tournament. Furthermore, with Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3 now behind us, it will be interesting to see how the different sides get on in the first game at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram.
It's just the top four teams who will progress to the knockout stage and ahead of this game those four sides are Rangpur Riders, Comilla Victorians, Chattogram Challengers and Fortune Barishal. But Khulna Tigers are level on points with Barishal and event Sylhet Strikers have picked up of late and will fancy their chances of a late tilt at a top four spot!
The scene is set and a win for either side will go a long way to confirming their top four place.

In spite of 63 runs from 45 balls at the top of the order from Shykat Ali in Match 27, Chattogram Challengers were beaten by Rangpur Riders by 53 runs in Mirpur in their last game.
The Riders are an excellent side and there is no shame in losing to them but the emergence of Shykat as an opener could be a real bonus for the Challengers. Along with Australian Josh Brown and New Zealander Tom Bruce, Chattogram now have a top three much of the envy of the rest of the tournament.
Ahead of this game, we can expect the bowling unit of Bilal Khan, Al-Amin Hossain, Shohidul Islam and Salauddin Sakil to be the main threats with the ball.

The Victorians are absolutely flying at the moment and come into this match on the back of successive victories against the Challengers (7 wickets), The Tigers (34 runs) and Dhaka (4 wickets).
Can they make it four in a row, that is the question! And having someone like Towhid Hridoy in their side is likely to help after he smashed an incredible 108 not out from just 57 balls in Match 26. Alongside him in the top three is the T20 specialist Will Jacks and Bangladesh's all-format batting star and captain of the side, Litton Das.
With the ball, Matthew Forde announced himself on the tournament with 3/35 against Durdanto Dhaka and his strike-rate of 14.00 in T20 cricket could be very useful in this top three clash.

No rain is forecast throughout this game on Tuesday so we are guaranteed a full game! It should be a pleasant afternoon with the temperature in the mid-twenties from start to finish.
There were some very high team totals at this venue towards the end of the Phase last year and typically the larger scores came in evening fixtures. We expect some good pace in the wicket and a par score of 170.
This is a new venue for this year's tournament but in last season's BPL we saw a majority of teams electing to field first. It could change across this Phase but we predict that both teams will want to bowl first in this game.
Both teams have won five matches already in this year's tournament and we are predicting a close contest on Tuesday afternoon. However, the Victorians are flying, not only with three successive wins but also with five from their last six. We can not predict anything other than another victory for Comilla Victorians.
We are backing Comilla Victorians to win this match!
