In the fourth match of the Women’s T20I Quadrangular Series in China, Hong Kong Women will go up against China Women. Following Myanmar's win against Hong Kong in the tournament's first game, the latter will look to get back to winning ways. Hong Kong, however, have had the upper hand against China in recent matchups and will be confident about their chances in this game.

China Women Preview

Hosts China started the quadrangular series with an assertive win over Mongolia Women. They first restricted Mongolia to just 52-6 in 20 overs and chased the target in just 6.2 overs for the loss of two wickets.

China’s bowlers were the stars of the win, with almost everyone putting up a commendable show. Wang Huiying was the standout with figures of 2-10 from 3 overs. Xu Qian, Mengting Liu, and Yang Shen picked up one wicket each.

Among the batters, China will look for some solid runs from the likes of Zi Mei, Jing Yang, and Cai Yuzhi. The others in the batting lineup haven’t been consistent so the top-order will have to do the heavy lifting.

Mei has been the most successful Chinese batter over the last five matches, with scores of 15*, 14*, 16, 43*, and 18*.

Hong Kong Women suffered a two-run defeat in their opening game of the quadrangular series against Myanmar Women.  Chasing a modest target of 86, they fell agonizingly short and were restricted to 83-9.

Ruchitha Venkatesh was the top-scorer for the team with a knock of 15 off 34 balls, while opener Yasmin Daswani contributed 12 off 25.

In this match, we are expecting some runs from Shanzeen Shahzad. In the recent Women's East Asia Cup, which Hong Kong won, Shahzad was among the team’s best batters with 87 runs in 3 innings at a strike rate of 104. 

All-rounder Kary Chan is another crucial member of this team. She has been delivering consistent all-round performances, and in the previous match too, Chan stole the show with a spell of 3-11.

Also, watch out for Alison Siu. The right-arm medium pacer topped the bowling charts for Hong Kong in the Women's East Asia Cup with 8 wickets in 5 innings at 3.43.

Weather Conditions

As was evident from the first two games, the pitch in Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field is a slow one. Seamers will look to bowl plenty of cutters and slower ones here to make it difficult for batters to time the ball. Spinners too will enjoy the slowness of the surface. Batters will need to get used to conditions before they can start hitting the big shots.

The weather in Hangzhou will be mostly cloudy and pleasant during the match. There is no forecast of rain, so we will get a full game.

CHW vs HKG Pitch Report

In both the matches played at the Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field in this series, the batting teams struggled to get going, with the highest total so far being Myanmar Women’s 85-7. This shows that this isn’t an easy venue to post big totals. The team batting first will be looking to set a score of around 120-130 runs.

Toss: To Bat

Batting first will be the better option here as the wicket tends to slow down further by the second innings. Thus, both captains are likely to bat first here.
