The head to head between England and Pakistan in the shortest format of the game is lopsided, with the Asian team managing to get over the line only once in 16 encounters, a hard-fought 1-run win in Loughborough eleven years ago.
But England have humbled Pakistan ever since then, with the Birmingham win marking England Women’s 10th successive victory over their Pakistani counterparts.
With wins in Chennai, Bristol, Kuala Lumpur, Canberra, and Cape Town, English women have dominated Pakistan women in all countries and in a variety of conditions.
Their 53-run win, despite a chaotic start that saw them reeling at 11 for 4 in the third over, is a strong indication of how powerful this current English side is. They’ll be hoping to dictate in the matches to come and extend their dominance over this Pakistan side, with the T20 world cup just a few months away.

After a farcical start that saw them lose wickets in clusters, England women pulled off a massive 53-run win against Pakistan women.
At 11 for 4, the English women were in all sorts of trouble, but wicket keeper Amy Jones and captain Heather Knight came together to undertake the the repair job. They set up a platform which allowed late order batters namely Danielle Gibson, 41 runs from 21 deliveries, and Sophie Ecclestone, 19 from 11, to carry out an attack that took England beyond 160 to a competitive total.
In a bid to defend the target successfully, English bowlers managed to remove opener Sidra early on cheaply, but they couldn’t quite run through the order as they would have liked. Pakistan was in touch with the asking rate at the halfway mark, needing 87 runs of the remaining 10 overs. But Amy Jones and Capsey combined to run out top scorer Sadaf Shamas against the age of play.
And one dismissal brought another , and the visitors capitulated and were eventually bowled out for 110. Lauren Bell and Sarah Glenn were the stars with the ball, with the pacer and spinner ing for 7 wickets between them.

Pakistan had England down on the mat in the first few overs, after a frantic start to the English batting innings had brought about a flurry of wickets. But the Pakistani women couldn’t quite turn on the screws and let the English team get away to safety.
Their bowlers put the team down right through the second half of the bowling innings, conceding 97 runs off the last 9 overs. Waheeda Akhtar and Sadia Iqbal took two wickets each but the English batters handled the rest of the bowling group with ease to finish with 163 runs.
A target above 160 was always going to be hard against an attack of England’s quality, but Pakistan women came out with intent and made clear that they were not going down without a fight.
They were in the game up until the first 10 overs, but wickets started falling in clumps right after Sadar Shamas was run out looking for a dodgy single. Barring Shamas, no other batter was able to score more than 18 with 7 of them making single digit scores- which is a shame. With the series on the line, Pakistan women will be hoping to play better cricket and take the series to the decider.

The lowest score is 103/7 by a team batting first and 79/7 is the least a team batting second has been restricted to. Batting may not be easy here, but there are runs to be had if someone plays themselves in. The weather forecast for the game day looks fine and we're going to have an exciting night of cricket.

The County Ground in Northampton plays host to this crucial fixture between England women and Pakistan women. Both teams haven’t had an encounter take place here, and it’ll be interesting to see which team will walk off with the win at the end.
Pakistan women made best use of conditions after electing to field first removing four top order batters in no time. But they couldn’t quite close out the game with the ball and let that early advantage slip by. They might be encouraged to win toss and bowl again. England wouldn’t mind having a go first at a ground where all of their 7 wins have come batting first.
Our guess is that England women would go on to beat Pakistan women and take a 2-0 lead in the series.
