After a clinical win in their opening match of the season, Gloucestershire will be looking to carry the momentum as they take on Northamptonshire at College Ground in Cheltenham.
Last year, these two teams were in different groups with Gloucestershire finishing at 5th in Group A with the same number of points as that of the 3rd and 4th placed teams. Gloucestershire have already kicked off the season with a win where the batters outplayed the opposition.
Harry Tector coming in for Marcus Harris in the middle order is a major change in their batting lineup. And with Tector scoring runs right away, Gloucestershire would be very confident going ahead.
Northamptonshire have signed Prithvi Shaw, an attacking Indian opening batter who scored a fifty in the warm-up match. Moreover, they have a new captain in Lewis McManus this season.
The batting lineup looks pretty solid but the team hasn’t been in their best form in this Championship season and with a change in the format will be hoping for a change in fortunes as well.

Gloucestershire have started on a winning note and most of their key players look to be in great touch. Harry Tector’s innings is a huge positive for the team going ahead.
The Ireland batsman scored 84 off 69 balls at number 4 after coming in to bat when Gloucestershire were 2 down for 16 runs. Tector and Oliver Price added 142 runs for the 3rd wicket and that changed the course of the game.
Skipper James Bracey and Jack Taylor at 5 and 6 add more strength to the lower middle order and promise more partnerships that would be particularly of great importance in run chases.
Jack Taylor will be a key player to watch out for in this side. He had an average of 66.83 in the last season and was also handy with the ball, picking up 11 wickets with his leg spin at less than 6 r.p.o.
The 24-year-old right-arm medium pacer Zaman Akhter picked 3 for 56 in the last game making his mark in the Gloucestershire bowling attack. Paul van Meekeren and Zafar Gohar will be the key bowlers leading this attack.
Meekeren bagged 4 wickets while Gohar finished with 1 for 30 from his 10 overs that included 3 maidens. Gloucestershire have a solid overall side with reliable players in every department.

Northamptonshire are struggling in the Division One of the County Championship and in the last season of the one-day cup too, they finished at number 8.
This is a great opportunity for the team to pull themselves up and deliver some remarkable performances that would catch the eye of the selectors in a World Cup year.
The experienced bowlers in this side, Rob Keogh, Ben Sanderson, and Tom Taylor are recovering from their injuries and this could open a window for the young bowlers to make their mark.
At the top, the openers Ricardo Vasconcelos and Emilio Gay delivered some significant performances last year. Gay scored more than 300 runs last season and has been in great form in the ongoing County Championship. He will be a key player to watch out for in this batting lineup.
Will Young, the batting all-rounder from New Zealand was the top-scorer for the side last year and has a crucial role at number 3. Saif Zaib and the new skipper Lewis McManus are reliable batters in the middle order.
Tom Taylor also made handy contributions with the bat at number 6 but his availability remains uncertain due to his injury. But without their experienced bowlers, Northamptonshire will be struggling big time in the bowling department. Last season they lost two games while defending 311 and 370 runs.
Ricardo Vasconcelos, Emilio Gay, Prithvi Shaw, Saif Zaib, Lewis McManus (c & wk), Gus Miller, James Sales, Tom Taylor, Nathan Buck, Brandon Glover, Alex Russell

The pitch is great for batting as seen in the recent match. The bowlers can get some help from the surface but it is always possible to stage a comeback on this pitch. The weather will be partly cloudy with a high of 19 degrees Celsius.
College Ground in Cheltenham will be the venue for this encounter. There will be a lot of runs on this ground and the team batting first should be eying for something over 300 runs. Northamptonshire has a strong batting lineup with players capable of playing long innings. They could chase a big total at this venue but may not be able to defend one.
Gloucestershire started their 2023 one-day cup campaign with a successful run chase in Cheltenham. It looks like a great batting wicket and both teams, given the depth in their batting lineup should be looking to bowl first.
The batting departments are very promising in both sides with some in-form players. Gloucestershire have already shown their abilities in their opening match and will be confident going up against Northamptonshire. However, without a strong bowling attack that can deliver timely breakthroughs, the latter isn’t in a strong position. Overall, Gloucestershire have the upper hand in this contest and will start as our favorites.
