Hobart Hurricanes beat Melbourne Renegades by 6 wickets
Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Renegades are going to come up against each other in an important clash, in a bid to pick up two points and lift themselves off from the bottom half of the table. Although Team Hobart will use its home advantage to good effect , we guess Renegades, the better team on paper, look like they're due for a win.
Our prediction is for Melbourne Renegades to win this contest.

At 9-8, the head-to-head record is slightly in favour of Hobart Hurricanes. The numbers don’t say much, but when you look at it a little closer it is a tale of two stories.
Melbourne Renegades had bossed Hobart Hurricanes from BBL1 through BBL8, winning 6 of the 8 fixtures. But, after 2018, Hobart Hurricanes have turned things around completely, picking up 7 wins out of their last 9 encounters.
Will this contest mark the beginning of a turnaround for Melbourne Renegades against Hobart Hurricanes? Or will the men from Hobart continue to do well against their counterparts from Melbourne and steer clear?
Picking up a couple of points in this match will be crucial to get their campaign up and running, more so for Hobart Hurricanes who’re sort of teetering at the bottom with only bottom-dwellers Melbourne Stars beneath them.

Hobart Hurricanes have lost two matches in a row and look a bit cooked now.
Their opening game against Sydney Strikers was disappointing to say the least. The middle order batters couldn’t capitalize on the terrific start their openers got them off to, and let the opposition seize the initiative. A flurry of wickets followed and the scoring rate dipped drastically, which meant their innings went nowhere. And they finished the innings with a below-par 135.
Their top order and the middle order had a shocker of a game against Perth Scorchers, but two of their lower order batsmen saw off the bowling threat which allowed Chris Jordan to cut loose and help himself to a 20 ball 59. To opt to bat only to score 47/5 in 8 overs is unacceptable, but thanks to their lower order digging deep, they finished with 172 runs- definitely above par in those conditions. The momentum swung in favour of Hurricanes but not for long as their bowlers travelled all over the park, courtesy a blistering 150+ partnership for the second wicket between Aaron Hardie and Zak Crawley in almost 14 overs.
Team Hobart need has a lot of work to do with both bat and ball. They need runs from the bats of Ben McDermott, Tim David and Corey Anderson in particular, and their under-performing bowling unit has to find a way to make regular breakthroughs to stop oppositions from scoring freely.

Melbourne Renegades fell short in the last over against Sydney Sixers in their season opener. They were looking all set to make some inroads into Perth Scorchers’ batting line-up at Geelong in their second match, but the umpires decided to call off play due to a dangerous pitch after it started playing a few tricks.
Their current squad looks much stronger, with explosive batters Quinton De Kock, Jordan Cox and Jake Fraser-McGurk in the ranks and fresh-recruits Adam Zampa and Mujeeb Ur Rahman bolstering the bowling attack. They need to get their campaign underway with a win as another defeat would have them clasping at the straws. They wouldn’t want to put themselves in a position where they find themselves having to do too much with just a handful of matches remaining to be able to progress through to the play offs.
Agreed, it is not the start to their campaign they were hoping for. However, they can heave a big sigh of relief now that their draw can only get easier from here, after having faced heavyweight teams like Sixers, Scorchers and Heat early on.

Australia has got much better batting wickets than the one here in Hobart. The long boundaries are quite hard to clear unless you muscle the ball or make use of the breezy conditions here and hit it with the wind. The forecast is clear and we should have a complete game if it holds.
This match is being played in Hobart at the Bellerive Oval, which proved to be a lucky venue for the Hurricanes last season. They won four out of their five games here.
Whether to bat first or second? This question doesn’t matter much in this ground which sees more than its fair share of a mix of middling and huge scores. It is one of those grounds in Australia where toss doesn’t determine the complexion of the match.
In the context of this tournament, though, both teams are in a bit of a bother at the moment and are desperate to put their first win on board. But Renegades put on a decent display in defeat to Sixers and are the clear favourites to get their campaign back on track to winning ways.
Our prediction is for Melbourne Renegades to win this contest.
