Haryana must review the chances they missed going into their last league game of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024, especially the game against Jharkhand where they won, but lost on the last ball by just one wicket.

Haryana started the season exceedingly well with a couple of big wins against weaker teams such as Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur. In the first game, they defeated Manipur by 8 wickets with 80 balls remaining, and in the second game against Arunachal Pradesh, they won by a whopping 175 runs. Nishant Sindhu scored an unbeaten century of 48 deliveries against Arunachal Pradesh.

For the next three games, Haryana could not repeat what they did in the first two games. They lost three games in a row to Delhi, UP, and Jharkhand. Against Delhi, they lost by six wickets with over four overs remaining. UP defeated them by four wickets, and in the game against Jharkhand, they lost by just one wicket on the last ball of the match.

Despite the presence of a superb bowling unit that included Yuzvendra Chahal and Harshal Patel, Haryana are practically out of the knockout stage. One can expect them to give a tough fight to Jammu and Kashmir nonetheless.

What a win it was for J&K against a top team such as Uttar Pradesh to keep themselves hopeful for an entry into the knockout stage of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024. Nobody would have given them a chance against UP but they beat the odds to a comfortable win and managed to keep themselves alive for knockouts of this season.

With a game to go, Jammu and Kashmir need a big win to end among the top two teams in Group C and eventually qualify for the knockouts. It has been an up and down season for Jammu and Kashmir. They alternatively won and lost two games each out of the first four games.

However, in the last two, they defeated Manipur and Uttar Pradesh just in time to keep themselves alive in the tournament. The win against Uttar Pradesh was probably their second best in this season, second only to the 10-wicket win against Arunachal Pradesh.
