Haryana clinched a historic berth in the Vijay Hazare Trophy final with a commanding victory over star-studded Tamil Nadu in the first semi-final held in Rajkot. The foundation for Haryana's triumph was laid by an unbeaten century from No. 3 batsman Himanshu Rana and an explosive finish by Sumit Kumar that took the team's total to 293 for 7. Later, despite the absence of their lead spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal, who is on national duty in South Africa, Haryana's bowling unit collectively dismantled Tamil Nadu, restricting them to 230.
Apart from Rana, Haryana will be looking forward to some healthy contributions from Ankit Kumar (365 runs in 9 innings) and Rahul Tewatia (328 runs in 6 innings), their top run-getters this season.
While Haryana will definitely miss the services of Chahal, they will have the likes of Anshul Kamboj and Sumit Kumar to rely on, who have both taken 15 wickets each this season.
Harshal Patel (16 wickets in 9 innings at 21.37) has done a wonderful job at the back end of the innings, and his performance can be crucial in the final.

Deepak Hooda played an innings of a lifetime to take Rajasthan to their very first Vijay Hazare Trophy final. The Rajasthan skipper blasted a career-best 180 off just 128 balls to help his team chase down a formidable target of 283 with almost seven overs to spare. Hooda is now the leading run-getter of the tournament, with 480 runs in 9 matches at an average of 80.
One of Rajasthan’s worries is that, apart from Hooda, the others haven’t been as consistent. Abhijeet Tomar (261 runs in 8 innings) and Mahipal Lomror (249 runs in 8 innings) are the batters the team will rely on.
Karan Lamba played a useful knock of 73* from 112 balls in the previous match. That was his second fifty this season, and it looks like he is getting into the rhythm at the right time.
On the bowling front, look out for Aniket Choudhary (15 wickets in 7 innings) and Rahul Chahar (17 wickets in 9 innings), who have been the most consistent bowlers for Rajasthan this year.

The wicket at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium has been a batting beauty. The ball comes on to bat nicely and batters can comfortably hit through the line. While there is something in it for the bowlers early on, batting becomes easier in the second half when dew sets in.
The weather in Rajkot will be pleasant and clear.
This has been a high-scoring venue. The first semi-final of the competition was played here, where Haryana posted 293-7 after batting first and went on to win the match by 63 runs. The team batting first in the final will look to set a target of around 300-320 runs.
While chasing has been advantageous at this venue, since this is the final, the team winning the toss might choose to bat first to play it safe.
There has just been one Vijay Hazare Trophy match played between Haryana and Rajasthan, back in 2018. Haryana won that match by a comfortable margin of 147 runs. Things might not be so easy for them this time, as Rajasthan too are in red-hot form. That said, Haryana does look like the better all-round side on paper. Rajasthan might still clinch this if Deepak Hooda fires for them again, but we reckon its Haryana’s game to win.
Back Haryana to win the final match.
