India Women produced a solid display in all three ODI games to put themselves as the big favourites ahead of this match. The last two ODIs were too close to call but India Women were able to pick up a huge 143-run victory in the first meeting. Among the numerous positives for India Women would be the performances of Smriti Mandhana. The captain was able to come up with a staggering 343 runs to pick up the Player of the Series title. She was able to manage these impressive numbers at a strike rate of 104 and an average of 114. Richa Ghosh proved it to be quite valuable with a strike rate of 162 from her three innings.

If the vice-captain had picked up most of the big numbers in the batting department, there are plenty of positives in the bowling segment as well. Deepti Sharma emerged as the top wicket-taker with six wickets from her three innings at an average of 15.50. Pooja Vastrakar’s participation will be decided after a late fitness test but she came up with figures of four wickets at an average of 29.75 from her three innings.

South Africa are likely to be still concerned about the ODI losses but there were several positives for the team. All eyes will be on Laura Wolvaardt, who emerged as the top batter for South Africa Women with 200+ runs from the three ODI matches. After a disappointing outcome in the first ODI, Wolvaardt managed a century (135) and a half-century (61) in the subsequent games. Marizanne Kapp is another player who had a strong impression with a century (114) in one of the three innings.

Ayabonga Khaka is likely to play a crucial role for South Africa Women after impressing in the ODI series. She was able to pick up three wickets in the first ODI. Even though the subsequent two matches only produced one wicket for the 31-year-old, she proved to be quite effective.
