Legends League Cricket (LLC), a global T20 cricket league featuring recently retired international cricketers, is all set to return for a new season. After a successful run in March, the series will return to India between November 18 and December 9. The competition, which will be held in four cities, will feature six teams. The new season of the LLC begins on November 18 in Ranchi, where India Capitals, led by Gautam Gambhir, will face Bhilwara Kings, led by Irfan Pathan, in the opening match.
India Capitals won the previous edition of LLC after defeating Bhilwara Kings in the Jaipur final by 104 runs. They have assembled a powerful squad once again and will be the team to beat this time too.
Skipper Gautam Gambhir had a forgettable tournament as a batter last time. and would be looking to do better this season.
All-rounder Ashley Nurse was their leading run-getter in the previous edition, with 247 runs in 6 innings at a strike rate of almost 200! He will surely be the batter to watch out for.
The Capitals have also roped in the services of Hashim Amla. The classy South African batter is expected to open for the team and provide them with solid starts.
Giving them more batting depth is England’s Kevin Pietersen, who can take the game away from the opposition in no time.
Among the bowlers, it’s leg-spinner Pravin Tambe (11 wickets in 6 innings last season) who can have a big impact. The likes of Munaf Patel and Fidel Edwards will bring in all their experience with the new ball.

Runners-up of last season, Bhilwara Kings, will be led once again by Irfan Pathan. He will play an important role as an all-rounder. Pathan’s bowling wasn’t up to par last season, but he did a wonderful job with the bat, smashing 148 runs at a strike rate of 142.
William Porterfield was their most successful batter in the previous edition, scoring 267 runs in 7 innings at an average of 38.14 and a strike rate of 142.
Yusuf Pathan had a fantastic season too, blasting 228 runs at a strike rate of 182 and snaring 7 wickets at an average of 17.42.
Also, keep an eye out for Shane Watson. The Australian all-rounder has the ability to destroy any bowling attack and also pick up crucial wickets in the middle overs.
Bhilwara also have the likes of Lendl Simmons and Tilakaratne Dilshan to bolster their batting unit.
Their bowling seems a little light, and the bulk of the work will have to be done by Tim Murtagh Rahul Sharma, along with the Pathan brothers.

The JSCA Stadium pitch is usually a good T20 batting surface. However, it’s not a pitch where batters can simply start hitting through the line from ball one. Spinners will get some grip and turn here, particularly in the middle overs. The ball won’t come to the bat easily as the game progresses. Seam bowlers who use plenty of cutters will do well here.
The weather in Ranchi will be clear and pleasant.
The average score batting first at the JSCA Stadium is 161. The highest total posted in the venue is Chennai Super King’s 202-4 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2013 Champions League Twenty20. The team batting first in this game should look to set a target of around 170 runs.
Ten out of the thirteen domestic T20 games played at the JSCA International Stadium Complex have been won by the team chasing. This shows that it’s a good chasing venue. Moreover, dew will be a major factor this season, which will tempt the toss-winning captain to field first.
There have been three completed games played between India Capitals and Bhilwara Kings; all of those have been by India Capitals. Looking at the composition of both sides this season, it seems as though India Capitals will start as favorites for this match too. Bhilwara Kings have a solid batting unit, but the lack of quality in their bowling might hurt them badly. On the other hand, India Capitals have a lot more balance and should be able to dominate this contest.
Back India Capitals as the winners of this match.
