The last meeting beween Desert Vipers and MI Emirates was a cliffhanger, where the Vipers got home in a thrilling last ball finish.
Vipers' pacers Mohammed Amir and Luke Wood made life difficult for MI Emirates batsmen and removed the top 3 batsmen before the close of powerplay. The Sri Lankan spin and pace duo Hasaranga and Pathirana kept the pressure on and chipped away with the wickets to make sure the MI team didn’t finish with a big score.
The MI Emirates bowlers counter punched removing seven Vipers batsman with just 100 runs on the board, but lower-order batsmen Sherfane Rutherford (35 runs from 22 balls) and Shaheen Afridi (17 from 12) combined to see them through in the last over. With the Vipers stealing a win in the last ball, the MI Emirates’ focus will be on making amends for the last match.
Will the MI Emirates avenge their defeat and take one step closer to sealing a berth in the playoffs? Or will Vipers defeat MI Emirates again to boost their chances of making it to the qualifiers?

MI Emirates are the stand-out team this season. Not only do they have 10 points in their kitty, they’re the only team with a positive Net Run Rate. A win against Desert Vipers will almost guarantee a playoff berth for the Mumbai-based franchise.
They were just so close to pulling off an impossible defence of a middling target against the Vipers last time, but they couldn't get over the line somehow.
Team MI Emirates will be on the offensive right from the word go. And they’ve got a lot of people firing at the top with the bat. Muhammad Waseem and Kusal Perera are the best opening pair of this season by far, having ed two crucial partnerships (110 and 80) for the first wicket. Nicholas Pooran and Tim David have been more than handy in the middle order where they’ve produced some blistering knocks.
On the bowling front, Afghan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi and Kiwi Trent Boult have been excellent with the new ball, getting it to move both ways. Akeal Hosein may not have many wickets to show, but his spells have been absolutely economical so far. Waqar Salamkheil has really been the surprise package, picking up wickets regularly at a healthy strike rate without giving away too many runs.
Their playing XI is well-rounded and has been delivering the goods with the bat and ball, and there's no dount they'll go hard again to settle scores with the Vipers for the defeat last week.

Desert Vipers are back to winning ways after suffering a defeat in the hands of the Capitals.
Against Gulf Giants, Mohammed Amir scalped three wickets with the ball, and his compatriot Azam Khan was at his destructive best with the bat, bringing up the fastest fifty of ILT20 this season. He scored 9 boundaries in his 20-ball stint and finished his innings with a flourish.
Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga and his compatriot Matheesha Pathirana played their ing roles beautifully, picking two wickets apiece. Alex Hales and Colin Munro held the innings together after Rohan Mustafa departed early, and took toll of the wayward bowling when loose balls were presented. The impetus they gave their chase was instrumental in Azam Khan playing without fear, and the Vipers cantered home to victory with over 3 overs remaining.
After a satisfying all-round display saw them complete the double victory over defending champs Gulf Giants, the Vipers will be looking forward to doing the same to MI Emirates, who are at the top of the tree on the points table. Vipers bowlers bowled to their plans restricting the MI Emirates batters to a less than par total, but, in reply, the Vipers batters started poorly and allowed the MI Emirates bowlers to get on top. They’ll be looking to play far more convincing cricket this time around.

The weather forecast is good with no threat of rain. The pitch here tends to get a little two-paced at times, so it is important for the batters to see off the new ball when it does a bit, build a base to launch during the second half.

This match will be played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. Vipers won their Abu Dhabi fixture against the Emirates last season by chasing 170 runs in less than 17 overs, and will be hoping to follow the same template for yet another victory.
Chase and win has been the flavour of this season so the team that calls the toss right will most likely elect to field first. Besides, MI Emirates faltered while batting first against the Vipers in their last meeting, so they may want to see how they go about chasing this time around.
A tit-for-tat victory will be the objective for the MI Emirates. They know they weren’t at their best in their previous meeting, so they’ll make sure they come out all guns blazing. Our hunch is MI Emirates will be hard to stop in this contest.
