South Africa and Netherlands head into the second group match of the T20 World Cup with expectations of success in consecutive games. South Africa are big favourites for this match given their strength across the board. Even though Netherlands have improved massively over the last decade, they are still struggling on several fronts compared with the top opposition. Netherlands might have opened the group stages with a victory over Nepal, but a lot tougher tests await the team in this game.
Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York will be the location for this second group D encounter. After having picked up a victory in the first group match, both teams will have decent expectations.
Netherlands provided a strong bowling display against Nepal, but their bowlers will face a much stronger batting line-up from South Africa. Netherlands need a lot more from the likes of Sybrand Engelbrecht.

Netherlands had a relatively comfortable win over Nepal in the first group game, but things are expected to heat up for the second match. Netherlands had several nervous moments while chasing Nepal’s modest score and the team’s batting lineup is not in pristine shape.
Max O'Dowd almost single-handedly helped the team overcome a steady loss of wickets and still catch Nepal’s target with a few balls to spare. His half-century featured a number of excellent technical shots. He will be the focus for Netherlands’ game.
There were plenty of positives for the Dutch in the bowling department. They made most of the conditions with Tim Pringle taking most of the limelight with his three wicket haul. Logan van Beek also managed to chip in with three wickets.
Captain Scott Edwards will be slightly concerned about his team making a meal of the small chase, although it is understandable that the team wanted to be cautious in their approach. The cautious approach is likely to be retained for the game against South Africa since pitch conditions are unlikely to help the batsmen even now.

After beginning their T20 World Cup campaign on a perfect mood, South Africa are looking for a second consecutive victory. The team had very little going against them in the match against Sri Lanka. It was not a great batting performance from South Africa, but the team can take heart from the impressive performances of the bowlers.
Marco Jansen, Ottneil Baartman, and Kagiso Rabada were able to make the most of the bowler-friendly conditions. It certainly helped that South Africa chose to bowl first after winning the toss. After having understood the pitch perfectly well, South Africa do have an added advantage over the Dutch.
Anrich Nortje ended up with impressive numbers. He managed his highest-ever T20I returns of four wickets for just seven runs. None of the batsmen were able to spend a lot of time in the crease and this is one of the few concerns for a team, which wants to go all the way.
South Africa did not show a lot of urgency in the chase and this could also be one of the factors.

The pitch is expected to be in a normal state. There may not be a huge favour to the batsmen. The low scores witnessed in the match between India and Ireland are likely to extend further into this game. The pitch will particularly be great for pace bowlers. This low-scoring wicket may also have a characteristic inconsistent bounce.

The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York has not featured too many T20I games with only two taking place in the past. The venue will be hosting a number of important matches at the T20 World Cup including the game between Pakistan and India.
The team which wins the toss is expected to choose to bowl first. The pitch will be difficult for batsmen – especially during the new ball. The pacers will be able to make hay during the early exchanges.
Even though both teams might have come on the back of his success in the first group match, South Africa is significantly stronger than Netherlands in almost every department. The Dutch appeared to struggle with their batting line-up in the first group game. Any repeat of the misfortunes could end up handing South Africa a comfortable victory like they achieved against Sri Lanka.
Our prediction is for South Africa to win
