The high-octane T10 cricket has returned to Harare, and this weekend promises a number of thrilling encounters of which our focus is on Nys Lagos versus Joburg Bangla Tigers. Both teams have shown impressive form in their opening matches, setting the stage for a fierce battle.
Team Joburg showcased their dominance in their first game, bowling out their opponents for a modest total and chasing it down with ease. They were completely aggressive in their approach and executed their skills to precision in the first game.
Nys Lagos, making their debut this year, took complete control in their first taste of this format, restricting their opponents to 101 and chasing down the target with relative comfort. Their ability to maintain pressure and capitalize on opportunities has put them in a strong position.
As these two evenly matched teams face off, the frenetic pace of T10 cricket will be on full display. The outcome of this match could have a significant impact on the tournament standings, making it a must-watch for fans of the shortest format.

Nys Lagos’ solid performance in their first match was underpinned by a disciplined bowling display.
Binura Fernando's excellent new ball bowling resulted in an early wicket in the fourth ball of the innings, and pushed the opposition in the back foot. While Matiullah Khan's crucial dismissal of Laurie Evans helped Nys Lagos seize the initiative completely, Bodugum Akhilesh castling Nick Hobson a few balls later broke the back of the opposition batting lineup.
Muzarabani had an off day as a bowler and so did former Sri Lankan all-rounder and captain Thisara Perera whose only over went for 13 runs. Their struggles to stem the flow of runs were offset by the excellent performances of his teammates including Bodugum Akilesh.
With the bat, Rassie van der Dussen (51) and Avishka Fernando (34) are in great nick. In the first match, they began the chase aggressively and put their team in the driving seat. They pinched 7 boundaries in the first four overs and raced to 47 for no loss in four overs to make sure their team goes on to win.
Overall, the team's ability to perform well in all departments suggests that they are well-positioned to compete for the title in the Zim Afro T10.

Joburg Bangla Tigers’ dominant win in the first gaem was set up by a beautiful bowling display from Kiwi pacer Adam Milne, who made an immediate impact dismissing the opposition opener in the third ball of the match.
His new ball partner from England Luke Wood had a tough day at the office, conceding 30 runs in his two overs. While he did manage to grab a wicket, his expensive spell could have been a concern for Joburg. His economical spell of 1/9 off 2 overs helped to restrict the opposition's scoring rate.
Spinners Sikandar Raza, Antum Naqvi, and George Linde all played their part in slowing down the opposition's scoring, picking up a wicket each.
The Afghan opening pair provided a flying start, reaching 50 in just the fourth over. Zazai, in particular, was particularly severe on the opposition's pace bowlers. Kusal Perera and Sikandar Raza continued the momentum set by the Afghani southpaw, and helped their team get over the line with 12 balls to spare.
This clinical performance suggests that Bangla Tigers are strong contenders for the title.

The pitch has been a little tough to get used to early on in the innings, but batsmen shouldn’t have any trouble scoring runs once the ball stops doing a bit. Scores of less than 110 have been below par as the losing teams figured out, so any score above 120 gives you an extra cushion for your bowlers to get out there and compete. The weather forecast of the match looks good so we are in for a cracker of a contest.
This match is all set to happen at the Harare Sports Club in Harare.
All three matches so far have been won by teams batting second. No prizes for guessing what the toss winning captain would most likely choose to do tomorrow if the coin toss went his way.
Both teams are well-matched and off to a winning start, but we reckon Joburg Bangla Tigers hold the edge chiefly for the extra depth they have in their squad in the batting and bowling departments.
