New Zealand have taken a 1-0 lead in their three-match ODI series against Bangladesh at home. The Kiwis are really strong at home and will be favorites to win this series against a struggling Bangladesh side. The Tigers need to find some inspiration quickly, or another crushing series loss in New Zealand awaits them.

New Zealand ed a comprehensive 44-run (DLS) win against the visiting Bangladesh side in the first ODI at Dunedin. The rain-affected clash, which was reduced to 30-overs-a-side, saw the home team post 293-7 and reduce the visitors to 200-9 (the DLS target was 245).
Will Young showed his class with a belligerent knock of 105 off 84 balls. The stylish opener has been in great form of late, and we expect him to play another impactful knock here.
Captain Tom Latham (92 off 77 balls) also got some runs under his belt in the previous game after a lean run, which is great news for the team.
Rachin Ravindra was dismissed for a duck in the first ODI, but we reckon the youngster will have a big role to play here.
On the bowling front, Adam Milne and Ish Sodhi are expected to deliver, as both have been among the wickets.

Bangladesh were let down by an insipid batting display in the first ODI. Barring Anamul Haque (43 off 39 balls) and a late-order assault by Afif Hossain (38 off 28), none of the other batters could really leave an impact.
In the absence of Shakib Al Hasan, the likes of Litton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim really need to step up their game. Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto (237 runs in the last 10 matches) is also expected to lead from the front.
You can also keep an eye on Towhid Hridoy, who looked fluent in his knock of 33 of 27 balls in the previous game.
Shoriful Islam and Hasan Mahmud will be Bangladesh’s key bowlers. If they don’t get early wickets, the team might struggle, as Mustafizur Rahman doesn’t seem to be in his usual rhythm. Mehidy Hasan Miraz won’t get much help here but needs to keep things tight.

The pitch at the Saxton Oval in Nelson is a true one, offering something to both bowlers and batters. Batters are likely to do well here. They will enjoy the true bounce of the surface and will be able to play their strokes freely. Seam bowlers will find some purchase here too. Once the ball gets older, they will have to rely on slower ones and cutters.
The weather in Nelson will be pleasant, with plenty of sunshine.
The average first innings score at the Saxton Oval is 265. The highest total posted at the venue is 364-4 by New Zealand against Sri Lanka in 2019. The team batting first in this game should look to set a target of around 300-320 runs.
Seven of the 11 ODIs played at the Saxton Oval have been won by the chasing side. This clearly shows that fielding first is an advantage here.
Both New Zealand and Bangladesh are missing several key players in this series, but even then, the home side looks a lot stronger. Bangladesh have always struggled in New Zealand and are yet to win an ODI series here in five attempts. In fact, in all those series, they have managed to win just one match. The odds are stacked against them, and their bowling and batting units don't inspire much confidence. Unless someone produces a magical performance, we reckon New Zealand should secure another comfortable win.
New Zealand are favorites to make it 2-0.
