We are up to Match 12 in the 2023/24 Super Smash and so far the teams have all been well matched. Poor weather across the country has produced more no-results than anyone would have wanted but all the sides have picked up at least one victory in this campaign.
Otago Volts have been well beaten by Wellington Firebirds on two occasions but their narrow win over Auckland Aces in Match 10 will have given the players and the team management plenty of confidence.
Similarly, you could make a good case for claiming that Canterbury Kings are turning their season around after they lost to Auckland Aces in Match 1 but are now unbeaten from their last two games.

After ing their first win of the campaign on New Year's Day, we can expect Otago Volts to be unchanged ahead of this match. It was a fine team performance that saw off Auckland Aces with all five of their bowlers picking up at least one wicket before five batters put their hand's up to contribute.
Travis Muller and Jake Gibson were the standout bowlers for the Volts against the Aces with both producing a three-wicket haul for the first time in this competition. International Jacob Duffy was expensive but is always a wicket taking threat.
Skipper Dean Foxcroft top scored with 51 runs from 39 balls on Monday and the number three batter will be key once again in this game.

After two failures to pick up a victory, Canterbury Kings finally got off the mark for this Super Smash campaign by defeating Central Districts by 33 runs in a rain-affected fixture on Saturday. The Kings will now be looking for back to back victories and will be hoping that captain McConchie and Michael Rippon can do a repeat of their 133 run partnership for the fifth wicket from New Plymouth,
Like their opponents in this match, the bowling attack of the Kings will be in a positive frame of mind after there was a wicket apiece for Rippon and Angus McKenzie with William O'Rourke, Zakary Foulkes and Michael Rae all chipping in with two each against Central Districts.
This will not be easy but the Kings will fancy their chances against the Volts.

The temperature is not expected to go above 16 degrees during this match and there's a decent chance the sun will not burn through the thick cloud. There will be some wind but also plenty of humidity throughout the fixture.
Molyneux Park is not the easiest ground to bat on and, particularly when the overhead conditions favour the bowlers, we can expect a par score batting first to be no higher than 155-160. Spinners will get turn but it is the pace bowlers who will enjoy bowling on this pitch the most in Alexandra.
The conditions look set to be bowler friendly in Otago so we expect both teams to want to insert the other and get the first opportunity to lay some blows with the ball by fielding first if they win the toss.
Although both sides won their last games, it is Canterbury Kings who have had closer contests earlier in the tournament. Otago Volts struggled to their victory over Auckland Aces after heavy defeats against Wellington and we expect the Kings to be too strong with both bat and ball on Wednesday.
