Pakistan Women defeated South Africa Women in the first T20I at Karachi to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. It was a closely-contested match, and South Africa wouldn’t be too disappointed with their performance. South Africa Women are touring Pakistan Women for the first time in their history and would love to mark the occasion with a series win. The next match at Karachi on Sunday should be another close affair, but the home side will have a slight edge.
Pakistan Women pulled off their highest successful T20I chase to beat South Africa Women in the first T20I. With important contributions from Sidra Ameen (33 off 31 balls), Bismah Maroof (37 off 30 balls), and Aliya Riaz (28* off 26 balls), they chased the target of 151 in the final ball of the 20th over. It was a thrilling win, which will give the home side plenty of confidence going forward.
One thing the team would need to watch out for is their running between the wickets. In the previous game, four of the five wickets to fall were run outs.
Pakistan have put together a strong batting unit. With Sidra Ameen and Bismah Maroof among the runs, they can hope for a strong start. Muneeba Ali (205 runs in the last 10 matches at a strike rate of 103) is also worth watching out for. She is a handy wicket-keeper batter lower down the order and can play some useful cameos.
Nida Dar failed in the first match, but we are expecting a healthy contribution from her here. The experienced batter has scored 338 runs against South Africa from 19 games at an average of 24.14.
Pakistan’s bowlers managed to get only three wickets in the first match. Left-arm spinners Sadia Iqbal and Nashra Sandhu were the most impressive of the lot, going at an economy rate of below six runs an over. The conditions in Karachi are favorable for spinners, and it's probable that these two will once again pose challenges for South Africa's batters.

South Africa Women’s wouldn’t be too disappointed with their batting effort in the first T20I. They are playing in these conditions for the first time and managed to put up a healthy total of 150 while losing just three wickets after batting first. Captain Laura Wolvaardt (44 off 38 balls) and Tazmin Brits (78 off 64 balls) put on an 85-run partnership for the first wicket, setting the tone for the rest of the innings. Both openers are the in-form batters for the Proteas, having scored 316 and 322 runs, respectively, from their last 10 matches.
The experienced Marizanne Kapp is expected to so well too. Her record against Pakistan in T20Is boasts 230 runs across 12 innings, making it the second-highest run count she has achieved against any team.
Kapp, who also opens the bowling for South Africa, will also look to contribute by taking some early wickets. She has taken 10 wickets from her last 9 matches at an economy of 5.96, and is expected to keep things tight.
Nonkululeko Mlaba (9 wickets in the last 10 matches at 5.79) will also be handy with the new ball. However, what South Africa lack is a quality spin bowler who could have utilized these conditions and put pressure on the opposition batters.

The pitch at Karachi is a balanced one, offering help to both batters and bowlers. It offers a consistent and even bounce, allowing batters to score runs freely once they have gotten used to it. Seam bowlers are unlikely to get much help here, which means batters will look to make the most of the powerplay overs. Spinners will have a role to play in the middle overs, where they will get plenty of assistance.
The weather in Karachi will be breezy and pleasant.

Minimal TurnIn men’s T20Is, Karachi has usually proved to be a high-scoring venue, with the average score by the team batting first being 188. In the first T20I of this series, 151 proved to be quite a challenging target. The team batting first in this game should look to post a total of around 150–160 runs to give themselves a healthy chance of a win.
The National Stadium in Karachi tends to be more favorable for the team chasing, as was evident once again in the first T20I of this series. Therefore, the toss-winning team is likely to field first.
South Africa Women and Pakistan Women have squared off in a total of 19 T20 International matches. The Proteas have secured victories in 11 of these games, while Pakistan Women have notched 8 wins, including their triumphs in the last two encounters. South Africa are a top-heavy batting side, and if their top-order fails, they might find themselves struggling. Another issue with them is their lack of an experienced spin bowler for these conditions. Pakistan, on the other hand, have got most bases covered. Their batting might not be star-studded, but there is enough depth there. Also, the spinners in their ranks will continue to pose challenged to the opposition batters. Therefore, we reckon the home side will dominate this contest too.
We are backing Pakistan Women as the winners of this match.
