The games come thick and fast in T20 franchise tournaments and the SA20 is no different. Even though it feels like the competition began only a couple of days ago, this will be match nine with all five teams, apart from last year's champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape, already having a win on the board.
Although MI Cape Town currently lead the way and will put daylight between themselves and the chasing pack with another victory in this game, all of Joburg Super Kings, Pretoria Capitals, Durban's Super Giants and Paarl Royals are hot on their heels.
Paarl Royals won the first game of the tournament at Boland Park, when they put Sunrisers Eastern Cape to the sword and got over the line with nine wickets and eight balls remaining. We do not expect this match to be as one-sided but once again it could all come down to one supreme individual innings with the bat!

Although Paarl Royals enjoyed a brilliant opening game victory over the 2024 SA20 champions, they were very much brought straight back down to earth by MI Cape Town at Newlands on Monday when they were beaten by 33 runs. But what will any coach or team manager want after a defeat? That's right, the opportunity to right the wrongs immediately - and that's exactly what the Royals will have the chance to do in this match when they come up against MI Cape Town once again.
The performance was not a completely poor one and the bowling attack saw all five pick up at least one wicket although it was only Bjorn Fortuin and Dayyaan Galiem who kept their economy rates at impressive levels.
With the bat, Lhuan-dre Pretorius was unable to make it two memorable knocks out of two, but he and Joe Root look like a fluent and excellent opening pair.
Root is off to a flying start to his SA20 career, having scored 62* and 26 runs in the two matches he has played. Against MI in the last game, he absolutely dominated against the MI bowlers before mistiming one straight to the short fine leg. Considering his current form, we back Root to score over 21 runs in today's match.
Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Joe Root, Sam Hain, Mitchell Van Buuren, David Miller (c), Dayyaan Galiem, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Bjorn Fortuin, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Kwena Maphaka, Lungi Ngidi

Taking on the same bowling attack as in match six, MI Cape Town's Rassie van der Dussen and Reeza Hendricks who put on 79 runs for the second wicket partnership will be licking their lips! Ryan Rickelton missed out at the top of the order but the keeper-batter has an exceptional T20 record, particularly in South Africa, and he could well make up for it in this game.
Then there is also the small matter of Colin Ingram at number four, not to mention Dewald Brevis at six, and plenty of other strong batting all-rounders in their line-up.
With the ball, Delano Potgieter looks to be their weak link in an attack which has the left-arm pace of Trent Boult, which combines nicely with Kagiso Rabada's right arm fireworks, not to mention the spin of Rashid Khan and George Linde!
After a poor start to his campaign, where he struggled to score runs, Hendricks showed up to work in the last game against Paarl and scored a classy half-century (59 runs in 37 balls). Given his recent form and considering he will face the same bowlers he dominated a couple of days ago, we back Hendricks to come good with the bat once again against the Royals.
Ryan Rickelton (wk), Rassie van der Dussen, Reeza Hendricks, Colin Ingram. George Linde, Delano Potgieter, Dewald Brevis, Azmatullah Omarzai, Rashid Khan (c), Kagiso Rabada, Trent Boult

There was rain at Boland Park on Tuesday but according to the forecasters Wednesday afternoon and early evening does not even have a threat of a downpour. The sun will be out with the temperature in the mid-twenties from start to finish.
Only six wickets fell in match three between Paarl Royals and Sunrisers Eastern Cape at Boland Park on the weekend and we expect the bowlers to have to work hard for their wickets once again in this game. Equally, a par score is unlikely to be any higher than 185.
Paarl Royals lost both the coin tosses this season, while MI Cape Town won one of the three coin tosses this season. In head to head matches, MI won four of the five coin tosses against Paarl. But for this fixture we are backing the home team Paarl Royals to win the coin toss.
The pitch at Boland Park, Paarl offers a balanced track, favoring both batters and bowlers. The average total match score in the last five SA20 matches played at this venue is 304 runs. The two matches played between Paarl and MI Cape Town at Boland Park have resulted in scores of under 325 in both innings.
Paarl Royals had no problem defeating Sunrisers Eastern Cape by fielding first in match three of the tournament so we predict that both captains will choose to bowl first if they win the toss ahead of this game.
Paarl Royals will have been stung by their defeat to MI Cape Town on Monday but we expect them to come fighting back in this contest. MI Cape Town have an excellent bowling attack but we are predicting a home win at Boland Park on Wednesday.
We are backing Paarl Royals to win!
