Salem Spartans have had a disastrous season so far. And what’s more, they will be up against the best team of the tournament - the Kovai Kings - in their final match of this season with no chance of playoff qualification in sight.
It’s not just the defeats, but the margins have been so comprehensive that it is safe to say the Spartans have been the worst team in the tournament, which is reflected in the points table. The defeats sting more when you have a player like M Poiyamozhi, who, with 12 wickets in the season, is the top wicket-taker of the tournament.
