It is not an exaggeration to say that the top three for Southern Spartans are likely to play a big part in the success or otherwise of the side in this opening match as well as across the tournament as a whole.

Skipper Suresh Raina was typically used in the middle order later in his career but he certainly still has the ability to tee-off from the first ball and we expect him to open the batting alongside former South African rapid-run-getter Herschelle Gibbs! And if either of those fall early, Phil Mustard will be ready, pads strapped on, to go big from the off.

With the ball, it may come down to who has the best variations on a pitch which is likely to assist the batters! Milin Yadav and Paul Valthaty are bowlers who possess the skills to succeed.

He will be leading the Northern Challengers and he has the potential to be the standout player across the entire competition.

Alongside Dhawan, Dane Vilas is another with a brilliant short format record and he is likely to be used in the 'finisher' role in this game.

With the ball, we expect the Challengers to turn to Bipul Sharma and Mahaveer Singh Rathore with the new ball. Backing up that pair are likely to be Gurkeerat Singh Mann and Kundan Kumar.
