Toronto Nationals Preview

Toronto Nationals kicked off their GT20 Canada 2023 campaign on a strong note with a convincing win over Vancouver Knights. However, the middle-order failed in the very next game as Toronto finished with just 142 runs batting first.

The bowlers were exceptional as they picked 9 wickets while defending such a small total against a strong batting order. The bowlers continued their form in the last match as well restricting the Surrey Jaguars to 143-6 in an 18-over game.

However, the batting order collapsed once again with only Colin Munro making any impact with his 27-ball 43-run innings. Skipper Hamza Tariq at the top hasn’t looked any promising while from number 4 onward the batting order has lacked any reliable match finishers.

Nicholas Kirton, Shahid Afridi, and Gerard Erasmus will be key middle-order batters while JJ Smit and Faheem Ashraf can be match-finishers lower down the order.

Zaman Khan, Saad Bin Zafar, and Fazhalhaq Farooqi will lead the bowling attack and if they continue their form, they would put a struggling Panthers lineup on the backfoot.

At this point, both teams lack momentum and have similar issues in their batting lineup. Toronto Nationals need a win here to turn things around and a lot rests on their bowlers.

Mississauga Panthers will be desperate for a win as they take on Toronto Nationals in their 4th match of the GT20 Canada 2023. The biggest concern for skipper Shoaib Malik coming into this match is the batting form of most of his key players including himself.

If big guns at the top continue to fail, the Panthers will be in trouble again as they lack any consistent and reliable batters who can rebuild the innings. Chris Gayle’s 61 against Vancouver came in 55 balls while he was out for 1 in the next match.

His opening partner Tom Cooper is yet to reach a double-digit score while skipper Shoaib Malik is also struggling to score runs. Navneet Dhaliwal, Azam Khan, and James Neesham have shown some promise in the middle order. 

These three will be the key batters for Mississauga Panthers in this match. Azam Khan has looked in good touch while Neesham also found his rhythm in the last game.
