The Hundred Women tournament has started with some nail-biting finishes. While last season’s champions Oval Invincibles Women are still at the top of the points table this season, the bottom-placed  Birmingham Phoenix Women have again found themselves at the bottom after losing the first two games. They will now face Trent Rockets Women in the ninth game of this season at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on 31st July. The game will start from 7:30 pm onwards.

Trent Rockets Women traveled to Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester after winning their first game against Northern Superchargers Women by 20 runs. Bowling first, the Rockets Women restricted Manchester Originals Women to 137 for losing six wickets. Heather Graham once again topped the bowling chart by taking two wickets for 31. Despite the heroic 86-run partnership between the skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt & Ashleigh Gardner, Trent Rockets Women lost the game by a run.

Birmingham Phoenix Women suffered another loss of the season against London Spirit Women at The Lords. Bowling first Birmingham Women gave 147 runs in 100 deliveries. Katie Levick took three wickets after bowling a full quota of twenty balls. The 89-run stand between skipper Ellyse Perry and Sophie Devine went in vain as the Phoenix Women lost the game by 20 runs in the end.

The two teams played against each other in the group stage game last season. Batting first, Trent Rockets Women set a target of 135 runs after a 64-run knock from opener Bryony Smith. Emily Arlott took three wickets for 15 runs in the first innings. Despite a calculated chase and 46 runs by wicketkeeper Amy Jones, Birmingham Phoenix Women lost the game by three runs. Kirstie Gordon & Alana King took a wicket each giving 43 runs in 40 deliveries.

Trent Rockets Women are in third place in the points table with two points in two games while Birmingham Phoenix Women are at the bottom without a point.

Weather Conditions

The weather will be cloudy and humid with no chance of rain. The temperatures will be between 14°C and 27°C.

Trent Bridge in Nottingham is known for its traditionally batting-friendly pitch, which can provide pace and bounce, making it conducive for high scoring in ODI and T20 matches. The pitch often favors batsmen, especially during the first innings, while spinners may find some later in the game. It also has a history of good conditions for fast bowlers due to its grass cover.

The ninth game of the Hundred (Women) will be played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on 31st July. The game will start from 7:30 pm onwards. The venue has hosted 68 Tests, 53ODIs & 15 T20Is.

Toss: To Bat

In 15 T20Is the team defending the target has won 9 times. In the 13 games of this competition in the first three seasons, the team batting first has won on 13 occasions. The team winning the toss should bat first here.

Trent Rockets Women will be desperate to make a comeback after their loss in the last game. They have a balanced unit as compared to Birmingham Phoenix Women. BPW have lost their first two games and have found themselves in the same shoes as last season. They don’t have any reliable batter if we exclude Ellyse Perry. On the other hand, Nat Sciver-Burnt is in form for Trent Rockets Women in another season.

We predict that Trent Rockets Women will defeat Birmingham Phoenix Women.
