Vancouver Knights Preview

Vancouver Knights pulled off a big win against the number one placed team in GT20 Canada in the last match. As Ruben Trumplemann and Corbin Bosch continued their bowling form, ed by Junaid Siddique in the effort, Knights restricted Brampton Wolves to 129-9.

Junaid Siddique’s spell of 2 for 25 in the last game is good news for Vancouver Knights whose bowling attack was mainly driven by Trumplemann and Bosch.

The local right-arm off break bowler, Harsh Thaker has also looked promising with his economy though he hasn’t managed to pick wickets. If these four continue their bowling form, the Knight could push the Jaguars on the backfoot.

Vancouver Knights have been impressive on the batting front as well. The maturity shown by Rizwan and Bosch in the last match was commendable. They have shown the way for batters to approach their innings on this pitch.

In their first win of the season, Harsh Thaker scored an unbeaten 75 off 54 balls at number 3 as the Knights chased down 159 runs. They’ve got a solid batting lineup with players who’ve got the right idea of how to adapt to the conditions.

However, it is not easy to figure out what the right 1st innings score would be on this ground. Knights would prefer to bowl first and have a clear target in front of them.

Surrey Jaguars are on a winning run with two consecutive wins and a win here would put them in the top 2 of the points table. 

Even when most batters in both these teams have adopted a cautious approach to their batting due to the pitch conditions, Alex Hales looks to play his natural, more aggressive brand of cricket.

And even if he gets out early with this approach, that’s still a better thing for Jaguars as he may not get a lot of runs playing a slow and cautious innings. Jatinder Singh, after getting off to a few good starts, finally managed to convert it into a significant score.

He will be a key batsman at the top along with Hales and Liton Das. These three hold the key to Surrey Jaguars’ batting success. While they’ve got skipper Iftikhar Ahmed at number 4 who has a strike rate of 132 in T20Is, Jaguars need one of their top 3 batters to play a big innings to reach a decent score.

Jaguars should definitely be looking for something over 160-165 at the least if they are to defend it successfully against Vancouver Knights. Sandeep Lamichhane will play a key role with the ball. Matthew Forde and Spencer Johnson have also found their rhythm and will be ones to watch out for in this bowling attack.
