Although this tournament is still only three games old for this season, it already looks set to be another high quality Super Smash. With only six teams competing, New Zealand's premier T20 competition does not compromise on quality and anyone who performs well is more than likely to catch the eye of the national selectors.
With this the final match before a three-day break and Christmas vacations already in full swing, we can expect a bumper crowd to be in attendance at the Basin Reserve on Sunday.
International players will be on display and the spectators could well be in for a tight contest!

The Firebirds posted a mammoth 234/5 against Otago Volts with Tim Robinson smashing an incredible 139 runs from 64 balls at the top of the order. He was well backed up by skipper Nick Kelly who hit six fours in his 48 runs from 34 balls. Not a bad return for the side who also lost opener Nick Greenwood for a golden duck from the third ball of the day.
Defending a target of 235 to win is the stuff all T20 bowling attacks dream of so Wellington Firebirds' bowlers may well have to work a bit harder for their prizes in this game! Peter Younghusband and Ian Meake will both be looking to build on their three-wicket hauls from the opening game on Sunday.

It was a classic New Zealand side performance from the Auckland Aces with the bat against the Canterbury Kings with four of their top six making scores between 24 and 54. Any T20 side in the world with Martin Guptill opening the batting knows they will get some quickfire runs more often than not and he made 47 from 29 balls in Match 1. Alongside Guptill, skipper Robert O'Donnell, Finn Allen and James Neesham are other match-winners in the team for this game.
Sean Solia was the only bowler for the Aces who went wicketless against Canterbury Kings with Danru Ferns and Neesham both taking three-wicket hauls. New Zealand international Ben Lister did a fine job with the new ball and he will be tough to face again in this match.

Rain is forecast on Sunday evening but the game should be completed by the time it arrives. Instead, the players can expect cloudy and very humid conditions across both innings of this match.
The average score at the Basin Reserve has flat-lined at 159 over the last three years which made Wellington Firebirds' total of 234/5 all the more remarkable. The ball will move through the air in this game and a par score is likely to be no higher than 180.
Both teams won from batting first in their opening games so we expect that the Firebirds and the Aces will both choose to bat first if they win the toss in Wellington on Christmas Eve.
This promises to be a Christmas Eve Cracker of a game in Wellington and both teams will be full of confidence coming into it. Our prediction is for Wellington Firebirds to produce another big score with the bat and to make it two wins from two for the hosts.
