The 2024 T20 Blast is well and truly into its stride already and we have seen some fine performances with both bat and ball in the North and South Group over the opening two days.

As big clubs go, it doesn't get much bigger in the North Group than when Birmingham Bears take on Notts Outlaws and we can expect a big crowd in at Edgbaston to ensure a fixture of this stature has the crowd to match!

The last time these sides went head to head the Bears won by only 2 wickets and we could well see another tight contest on Saturday.

Birmingham Bears Preview

It was the Birmingham Bears' bowlers who setup the victory in the North East on Friday evening as they ran through Durham in their own back yard to dismiss them for 101 from only 18.1 overs.

All of the bowlers in the attack picked up at least one wicket although there were two each for Richard Gleeson and Danny Briggs with Hasan Ali finishing with 3/20.

With the bat, only five batters faced a ball for the Bears and it was opener Rob Yates (29 runs from 23 balls) and Sam Hain (27 not out from 30 balls) who got the bulk of the runs.

Birmingham Bears Predicted Playing XI:

Rob Yates, Alex Davies (c) (wk), Dan Mousley, Sam Hain, Jacob Bethell, Chris Benjamin, George Garton, Jake Lintott, Hasan Ali, Danny Briggs, Richard Gleeson

Nottinghamshire Preview

Batting first against Northamptonshire Steelbacks at home on Friday evening, most of the home fans thought they were in for an easy victory when Jack Clarke and Jack Haynes took the score to 104/1 after 10 overs. But the Outlaws then lost nine wickets for only 50 runs and their bowlers were unable to defend a measly target of 155!

Alex Hales and Will Young contributed only seven runs between them and that pair will be expected to do more in this match.

With the ball, only Dillon Pennington  and Calvin Harrison picked up a wicket each and skipper Clarke will be hoping for more from Ben Lister (0/26) and Olly Stone (0/38) in this clash.

Nottinghamshire Predicted Playing XI:

Joe Clarke (c), Alex Hales, Jack Haynes, Will Young, Tom Moores (wk), Matthew Montgomery, Lyndon James, Calvin Harrison, Olly Stone, Dillon Pennington, Ben Lister

Weather Conditions

Cloudy skies are forecast throughout Saturday evening in Birmingham with the temperature likely to be no higher than 17 degrees. There is no risk of rain interrupting the match.

WRW vs NOT Pitch Report

The ground-staff at Edgbaston always produce a good surface which allows for the ball to come through at a good pace and also permits the stroke makers to go for their shots. We expect more of the same with a par score around 200.

Toss: To Bowl

With both teams preferring to chase and dew likely to come down in the second part of the evening, we predict that both sides will want to field first ahead of this match.

Both teams have some big names in their sides and Notts Outlaws will certainly be hoping for more from some of their players after Friday's disappointment. However, in front of a home crowd, we are backing Birmingham Bears to come out on top and to make it two wins from two in this campaign.

We are backing Birmingham Bears to win.
