The previous meeting between the two teams turned out to be historical because it was one of the high-scoring matches in IPL 2024. DC vs SRH last time took place on 20th April at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bowl first. Their decision worked against them as their bowlers were a complete failure. Kuldeep Yadav was the leading wicket-taker with 4 wickets in the match, but he was expensive at an economy of 13.75. Mukesh Kumar and Axar Patel contributed with a single wicket each.
Sunrisers Hyderabad's top order dominated the match from the beginning. Travis Head was the leading run scorer with 89 off 32 balls at a strike rate of 278.13. Abhishek Sharma was on fire as he scored 46 off 12 balls at a strike rate of 383.33. Nitish Kumar Reddy also gave a push to the overall score by collecting 37 off 27 balls at a strike rate of 137.04. Shahbaz Ahmed also made a valuable contribution by scoring 59 off 29 balls at a strike rate of 203.45.
The opening partnership of Delhi Capitals was a complete failure. It was Jake Fraser-McGurk who anchored the innings by scoring 65 off 18 balls at a strike rate of 361.11. Abishek Poral was his partner as he managed to score 42 off 22 balls at a strike rate of 190.91. Rishabh Pant also played a cameo of 44 off 35 balls at a strike rate of 125.71. However, it was not enough to complete the chase and score a win against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
From the bowling side, T. Natarajan was the top wicket-taker with 4 wickets at an economy of 4.75. Mayank Markande and Nitish Kumar Reddy scalped 2 wickets each at an economy of 13 and 7.85, respectively. Washington Sundar and skipper Pat Cummins managed to pick a single wicket each.
