IPL 2025 - A Statistical Review After MI vs DC Match

IPL 2025 - A Statistical Review After MI vs DC Match

IPL 2025 witnessed one of the most thrilling fixtures at the league stage on Wednesday. The MI vs DC game was one of the complete fixtures where teams from both ends tried their best to score a win. However, the team with a better strategic display came out on top, and the Mumbai Indians entered the playoff stage.

Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bowl first in the match. The decision to bowl first worked against the visitors, and in the end, things worked out opposite to the plan. Mukesh Kumar managed to scalp two wickets in 4 overs, but he turned out to be expensive at an economy of 12. Dushmantha Chameera, Mustafizur Rahman, and Kuldeep managed to pick a single wicket each.

Mumbai Indians' top order received a balanced start from Ryan Rickelton (21 off 18) and Will Jacks (21 off 13). However, it was Suryakumar Yadav who did a fabulous job in the game. He scored 73 off balls at a strike rate of 169.77. Naman Shir was on fire as he scored 24 off 8 balls at a strike rate of 300.

The top order of the Delhi Capitals was a complete failure. They lost their first 3 wickets at 27 runs. Sameer Rizvi at number 4 did a fine job by scoring 39 off 35 balls at a strike rate of 111.43. However, the rest of their batting unit failed to complete the chase.

Mitchell Santner and Jasprit Bumrah were the primary bowlers for the team. They both scalped 3 wickets each at an economy of 2.75 and 3.60, respectively. Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, Will Jacks, and Karn Sharma scalped a single wicket each to score a dominant win.

MI vs DC Match - MI's 11th Qualification for Playoff

After scoring a win against Delhi Capitals in the previous game, Mumbai Indians have qualified for their 11th playoff in the history of the Indian Premier League. They last qualified for the playoffs in 2023 but failed to reach the final game. Their other playoff qualifications took place in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. They are just one qualification away from equaling Chennai Super Kings, who have 12 playoff qualifications in the history of IPL.

Delhi Capitals were eliminated from the league stage. It is for the first time that a team, which started their season with 4 consecutive wins, failed to reach the playoffs. This is an unfortunate record made by the Capitals in the IPL.

League Stage Matches To Playoff Teams

The 18th season of the Indian Premier League was an exciting and thrilling season. It took 63 matches to finalise the final 4 teams who will be entering the playoffs. However, it was IPL 2012 that was the most exciting one, where there were 71 league stage matches were played to finalise the top 4 teams.
