Having finished last year’s inaugural ILT20 season with the wooden spoon, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders played some seriously good, competitive T20 cricket to finish the group stage at third position on the table. A 3-run defeat to the Giants in their final match of the group stages denied them a second-place finish, which guarantees two shots at making the grand finals.
Dubai Capitals, having lost more than 4 key players who featured in several fixtures, have coped with the change in personnel very well, winning the last two matches. They’d go into the eliminator quite confident, having won both their last games including the big win against table topper MI Emirates.
Abu Dhabi Knight Riders defeated Dubai Capitals in the Abu Dhabi fixture early on, and the Capitals showed the Knight Riders who’s the real boss at Dubai with a classy chase of 184 runs with nearly 23 balls to spare.

At the end of game 8, Abu Dhabi was in box seat to finish in the top two.
A listless batting display against the Sharjah Warriors in their ninth match saw them fold for less than 100 for the second time in the series, and there was no way they could defend that.
But they'd be deeply hurt with the narrow 3-run defeat to Gulf Giants in their next fixture, because it ended up costing them a place in the top two. They have only one shot at making it to the final, and if they goof it up their tournament is all but over. And they’ll be hoping they better get it right.
Their batting effort this season has been far from remarkable, seeing that they were skittled for less than 100 twice. They’ve not been able to get up to a score more than 180 or 200 at will, and have largely relied on a few batsmen to post a massive total with the bat. Michael Pepper, Alishan Sharafu, Sam Hain and Laurie Evans have scored most runs for the Knight Riders, but none of them have had a crazy, breakout year.
Imad Wasim, David Willey have been generally good with the ball the whole season, but they've not been extraordinary though. And Sunil Narine, although he hasn’t scalped as many wickets as he’d have liked, has been as miserly as ever.

The exodus of a few key players from the camp namely David Warner, Rovman Powell, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Jason Holder etc did hamper Dubai Capitals, but they kept their faith and believed in their skills to finish the round robin stages on a high. And they did wrap up their group stage with two victories, making sure they booked a berth in the playoffs as the fourth best team this season.
With 6 points from 8 games, they were competing with fellow bottom-feeders Desert Vipers and Sharjah Warriors for that all-important fourth place finish. But they demonstrated they’re not a team with individuals by playing well as a collective and notching up two crucial wins that saw them break away from the pack and finish at four.
Sikandar Raza and Sam Billings continue to dominate with the, while Ben Dunk is still finding his feet and JL du Plooy is trying to regain his form from the SA20. Bowling stocks look a little undercooked with Chameera and Holder going away for national duties.
Sikandar Raza has been in excellent form, picking up crucial wickets in the middle along with another veteran spinner Roelof van der Merwe.
Tom Banton, Max Holden, Ben Dunk, Leus du Plooy, Sam Billings (c & wk), Dasun Shanaka, Sikandar Raza, Scott Kuggeleijn, Akif Raja, Olly Stone, Haider Ali.

Stats suggest Abu Dhabi pitch has been not very conducive to batting, with zero 200+ scores this tournament compared to four in the previous season. Any score above 180 would make a good, challenging total to defend, considering that this is a knockout game and there’ll be huge scoreboard pressure on the team chasing. The forecast suggests that weather will be clear throughout the match.

In this season, Knight Riders have won 3 of their 6 games here, whereas Dubai Capitals could manage one victory in two games with a 19-run win against table toppers Mumbai Indians last week.
Chasing teams have won 6 out of 10 games here this season. 3 of the 4 matches that they lost saw the team batting first score put on 180 runs on board. Only once has a team batting first won with a total less than 150, and Dubai Capitals defeated MI Emirates in that fixture.
Dubai Capitals have a good track record over Abu Dhabi Knight Riders overall. Moreover, they are on a mini winning streak with two crucial wins in two matches. This should be a close, hard-fought contest, but we guess the Capitals should prevail in the end.
We are backing Dubai Capitals as the winners of this contest.
