Bangladesh Women are off to a flying start in their quest to qualify directly for the 2025 ODI World Cup. They’ve beaten Ireland Women in the first two ODIs on home soil, taking a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The two sides meet again for the final ODI on Tuesday. Before this series began, Bangladesh needed five wins from their next six ODIs to book a direct World Cup spot. They’ve got two in the bag and can grab another in the last game. Ireland Women, meanwhile, have a tough task ahead of them, especially considering the slow pitches that favor spin.

In the second ODI played in Dhaka, Bangladesh Women put in another impressive effort. After limiting Ireland Women to 193-6, they reached their target with more than six overs left. Fargana Hoque anchored the chase, scoring a patient 50 off 89 balls. Sharmin Akhter and Nigar Sultana once again played key roles, each contributing 40-odd runs.
The home team’s top and middle order looks settled and should continue their strong performances. Plus, they've got batting depth with Sobhana Mostary and Shorna Akter in the middle order.
As for the bowling, Marufa Akter, Sultana Khatun, and Nahida Akter have given Ireland’s batters a hard time throughout this series. With Fahima Khatun and Rabeya Khan also available, this bowling unit has been very effective in these conditions, and they are expected to pose more challenges for Ireland in the last ODI.

Ireland Women had a better day with the bat in the second ODI. Amy Hunter’s smooth 68 off 88 balls got Ireland to a respectable total. Orla Prendergast and Laura Delany also made useful contributions, both scoring in the 30s. Unfortunately, the other batters couldn't get going.
For Ireland to put up a stronger fight, captain Gaby Lewis and Sarah Forbes need to provide better starts to build a platform for a big total.
Another player worth keeping an eye on is Leah Paul, who has made 234 runs in her last 10 outings.
In the bowling department, Ireland performed better than they did in the first ODI, with Orla Prendergast, Ava Canning, and Arlene Kelly putting in good spells. Still, it wasn’t quite enough, as the bowling attack seems to lack the type of bowlers who can put pressure on the Bangladesh batters in these conditions.

The pitch at the Shere Bangla National Stadium is generally slower in nature, which gives spinners and slower bowlers an advantage. To succeed, batters will need to take their time to get used to the conditions and settle in at the crease before they can start playing aggressively. The spinners, meanwhile, can look forward to finding some slow turn on the wicket throughout the course of the game, which could be a major factor in determining the outcome.
In of the weather, the forecast for Dhaka looks promising, with plenty of sunshine expected throughout the day, making it an ideal setting for a day of cricket.
The Shere Bangla National Stadium has historically seen relatively low scores in women's ODIs, with the average team total batting first being just 154. But Bangladesh Women's dominant performance in the first ODI of this series, where they scored 252-4, has raised the bar for what's possible at the venue. If Bangladesh get to bat first in the third ODI, they will likely try to post a total of around 240-250, which would give them a strong foundation to work from. Meanwhile, if Ireland are batting first, they will probably target a total in the range of 180-200, which would be a competitive score and give them a chance to put pressure on their opponents.
Given the venue's reputation for favoring the team that bats first, it's probable that both captains will choose to take first strike.
Bangladesh Women have generally gotten the better of Ireland Women in ODIs, and having already won this series, they’re definitely the front-runners for the third match. They know these conditions well and will count on their spinners to keep the Ireland batters in check. Plus, their own batting lineup looks solid from top to bottom. With a spot in the World Cup on the line, Bangladesh will be pushing hard for a win here and a 3-0 series sweep. Ireland will need to step up their game big time to put pressure on the hosts; otherwise, Bangladesh is likely to keep their winning streak against them alive.
Bangladesh Women are favorites to make it 3-0.
