Bud CC have been granted two tough fixtures at the start of the season. After finishing second in the group and almost reaching the final during the 2023 campaign, Bud CC would have been expected to start the campaign with a victory. Yet, the team are in danger of suffering consecutive losses for the first time. Even in the inaugural 2023 campaign, Bud CC did not have to go through a similar experience.

It was a very poor batting performance from Bud CC in the opener with only Manikarna Sarma managing to get into double figures. There was a steady fall of wickets throughout the game and BCC were only able to manage 64 runs. Even the modest target of 107 appeared to be too difficult for last season’s semifinalist. 

Tushar Saha and Bhaskar Kalita came up with good performances with the ball after managing four wickets each. Saha was especially instrumental in rattling the middle order and making sure that Gauhati Town could not build on a strong partnership between Bishal Sharma and Arnab Borah.

Ankurjyoti Club might have lost the first game of the season, but the team can be quite happy with some facets of the six-wicket loss to River Rine Club. After a string of early wickets, the team were able to witness a 64-run partnership from just 46 balls, as Raj Pathak and Victor Kashyap put together a decent show in the middle.

Victor Kashyap ended up as the top performer against RRC even if he fell 6 runs short of a half-century. Raj Pathak was the second top scorer with 34 from 37 balls. Akash Basfor had a stellar 2023 campaign after coming in with 231 runs, but he could only muster four runs in the first match. Basfor coming back to form will be a significant boost for Ankurjyoti Club.
