B-Love-Kandy have got a great variety of all-rounders in their squad for the 2024 season. Wanindu Hasaranga will be leading a well-balanced side once again as B-Love-Kandy begin their title defence.
There is no Fakhar Zaman in the side this year. They’ve got the other two opening options still in the side. Dinesh Chandimal and Kamindu Mendis were tried as opening options last season.
The list of big-hitting openers in this side is quite long. Andre Fletcher and Azam Khan are more options for Hasaranga to explore. Khan may not get a spot in the XI after his recent failure in the T20 World Cup for Pakistan.
The all-rounders’ list features some big names like Kyle Mayers and Chaturanga de Silva. The latter has been very effective with the ball and is handy lower down the order.
The experienced Angelo Matthews can also deliver with both bat and ball. But we reckon Kandy should delay his inclusion in the XI. They can try other options like Dasun Shanka who’s a proven match-finisher.

Dambulla have packed a much stronger bowling attack this time around and will be hoping to settle the scores with Kandy. Even with a strong batting lineup, Dambulla finished with just 147 runs batting first in the Final last year.
This year they’ve got some big guns from Afghanistan like Hazratullah Zazai and Ibrahim Zadran. They’ve also got the experienced Iftikhar Ahmed in the all-rounders’ department.
There aren’t many batting superstars this time around in the Dambulla squad. Some of the big names from last year that are missing from the current squad include Avishka Fernando, Kusal Mendis, and Kusal Perera.
Dambulla Sixers will have to look for new superstars now. They need the younger and less experienced Sri Lankan batters to step up and deliver big knocks this time around.
Zazai should be the ideal candidate for the opening slot along with Asela Gunaratne. In the middle-order, we can expect Nuwanidu Fernando to come in at 3 followed by someone experienced like Iftikhar or Ibrahim Zadran.
Danushka Gunathilaka has plenty of international experience and has opened for Sri Lanka. He will be a key batsman in this relatively inexperienced lineup.
Akila Dananjaya continues to be part of the bowling attack and will be one to watch out for. In addition to Thushara and Madhushanka, the Sixers can also look up to Mustafizzur Rahman to deliver breakthroughs with his left-arm medium pace.
