Canterbury made a direct entry to the finals by topping the group stage. They won five games, lost three, and ended up with 29 points.
Canterbury has had a strong batting unit this season, with many batters in form. Leading the charts is Chad Bowes, who has amassed 330 runs in 9 matches at an average of 37 and a strike rate of almost 95.
Following him closely are Henry Nicholls (295 runs in 5 innings at 98.33) and captain Leo Carter (233 runs in 5 innings at 77.66). Nicholls is fresh off a sublime unbeaten 85 in Canterbury’s last league match against Northern Knights. He is our batter to watch out for in the final.
In the bowling department, Canterbury has relied on Zakary Foulkes (15 wickets in 9 matches at 21.13) and Michael Rippon (10 wickets in 8 matches at 32) to deliver.
Canterbury will miss the services of Ish Sodhi, who is on national duty currently.

Auckland finished the league stage in the third place. They beat Otago in the Eliminator to make their way into the finals. In that knockout game, Auckland chased down a target of 277 with nine balls and four wickets to spare. The experienced Martin Guptill and Robert O’Donnell slammed hundreds to take their team home.
O’Donnell is now the team’s and the tournament’s highest run-getter this season, with 561 runs in 11 innings at an average of 62.33 and a strike rate of 81.
With Finn Allen busy with national duty, Guptill, too, will have to step up and continue with his form.
Another batsman who can have a big impact in the final is William O'Donnell, who has 352 runs this season in 10 games at an average of almost 40.
Now talking about the bowling, you can easily bank on Danru Ferns (15 wickets in 10 matches at 36.2) and Ben Lister (13 wickets in 7 matches at 24.76), who have been consistent throughout the season.
Ben Lister has also been impressive in the 5 matches he has played, taking 8 wickets at an average of 29.75.

Christchurch's Hagley Oval offers a balanced surface, with assistance for the seamers throughout and good bounce for batters to play their strokes freely. The pitch will definitely favor pacers in the early stages, allowing them to capitalize on the bounce and movement. Once it settles down a bit, batting will become much easier.
The weather in Christchurch will be cloudy and breezy during the match, with chances of a shower or two in the morning. As a result, we might have a delayed start or a shortened game.
The average first innings total at the Hagley Oval over the last nine matches is 203. The highest total posted here this season is Canterbury’s 349-8 against Central Districts. That is the only 300+ score at the venue this season. We think the par score in the final would be around 270-280 runs.
This is the final, and we reckon the team winning the toss will likely choose to bat first. Batting second too has yielded good results in this venue, but in such an important clash, the team chasing will be under extra pressure.
Canterbury defeated Auckland handsomely earlier this season and they will be taking that confidence with them into the finals. Auckland are peaking at the right time and have some dangerous batsmen in their ranks who can take the game away from the opposition. However, Canterbury looks to be the more balanced side and have more in-form players in all departments. They have decimated opponents by massive margins and won’t be easy to stop. We are backing them to deliver another dominating performance to clinch their 16th title.
Back Canterbury Kings to win the final.
