Gujarat Giants are taking on the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the second time this season. The two teams met earlier in the 5th match of the WPL 2024 where RCB defeated the Giants by 8 wickets.
Since then, the Giants have lost two more matches and are still struggling to get their batting back on track. Bangalore also suffered a couple of losses but are now back to winning ways with an impressive batting performance in their last outing.
Smriti Mandhana and Ellysse Perry led the team to a 198-run total after UP Warriorz put them to bat first. This performance will boost their confidence as they go ahead in the league stage.
Gujarat Giants feature some of the best T20 players in their batting lineup. Beth Mooney and Laura Wolvaardt open the innings while Phoebe Litchfield comes in at number 3 followed by Ashleigh Gardner at 5.
And yet, they finished with 138 for 8 while chasing 164 runs in their last match. There are some serious issues with the batting that the Giants need to resolve coming into this match.

Gujarat Giants need to win all of their remaining matches to stay in the hunt for the playoffs. Winning all the remaining 4 matches will get them to 8 points.
They’ve got many bowling all-rounders in the side that add to the variety in the bowling attack. However, when it comes to batting, they fall short of one or two specialist batters.
Batting all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner is a key player at number 5. Following her, there is no one reliable in this batting lineup who can deliver crucial runs at the death.
They’ve got a bowling all-rounder in Kathryn Bryce but she hasn’t been able to make any significant contributions with the bat. Gardner has been consistent at number 5 and it seems that a lot depends on her in the middle-order.
Veda Krishnamurthy, an experienced middle-order batter, is out of form at number 4 and that has hurt the Giants big time. Beth Mooney and Laura Wolvaardt need to score the majority of runs as openers if the Gujarat Giants are to put up a competitive score.
Giants have tried replacing Veda with Harleen Deol but in vain. None of the middle-order batters including the number 3 Phoebe Litchfield are looking in good touch at the moment.
Gardner is also a key player with the ball. Meghna Singh, another bowling all-rounder who comes a lot lower in the batting order, is another key bowler who’s found success consistently for Gujarat Giants.
The Gujarat Giants have struggled to score boundaries this season, boasting the lowest average fours per innings. On average, the Giants have only smashed 11 fours per match. Facing the strong bowling lineup of Royal Challengers Bangalore, hitting boundaries will be a tough task. Therefore, we predict the Gujarat Giants to hit under 15.5 fours.

Royal Challengers Bangalore must be happy with their recent performance. They were exceptional with the bat. Skipper Smriti Mandhana has found her form this season.
She’s delivered consistently and will be a key batter to watch out for. RCB changed the batting order a bit sending Sophie Devine down to number 5 while Sabbhineni Meghana opened the innings with Mandhana.
Elysse Perry has looked in great touch lately and will be another crucial figure in the middle-order. Her form will be key to a good total for RCB. Unlike the opposition, RCB have a solid middle-order.
Richa Ghosh comes in at number 4 followed by Sophie Devine. Both of these batters are capable of scoring big and can lead a comeback if RCB were to lose early wickets.
In the lower order, they’ve got bowling all-rounders like Georgia Wareham, Sophie Molineux, and Shreyanka Patil. While they replaced Patil with Ekta Bish in the last game, we still believe Patil is the better choice.
The number of bowling all-rounders also allows for more variety in the bowling attack giving the skipper more options to choose from when rotating her bowlers.
In the bowling attack, Sophie Devine, Molineux, and Wareham are among the key wicket-taking bowlers to watch out for.
The captain of RCB Women, Smriti Mandhana, has been in red-hot form this season and is the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 219 runs in five matches. She scored 80 runs in her last outing and has scored 26 runs in three of the five matches played. In her most recent match against the Gujarat Giants, she scored 43 runs. We back Smriti Mandhana to continue her impressive form and score over 26.5 runs against the Gujarat Giants.

The pitch here in Delhi has been on the slower side and helped the spinners. However, we expect a new surface for this game which would assist the batters as well when the ball is new. The weather will be mostly cloudy with a high of 24 degrees Celsius in Delhi.

Minimal TurnArun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi will be the venue for this match. After 11 matches in Bengaluru, the venue for WPL now shifts to Delhi. While there have been some high-scoring T20 matches here, the venue hasn’t been a particularly high-scoring one. We reckon a 170+ 1st innings total will be a match-winning score at this venue.
The total aggregate score in yesterdays' match at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi is 355 runs. Royal Challengers Bangalore Women have been absolutely smashing the opponent bowlers this season and are averaging 170 runs per game, while their opponents Gujarat Giants are averaging 134 runs per game.
Gujarat Giants aren’t in great touch with the bat and may find themselves on the backfoot if they were to chase a competitive total. As such, RCB will look to bat first and put runs on the board to get ahead in the contest.
Gujarat Giants are looking for their first win of the WPL 2024. And they are up against the mighty RCB Women who are coming into this contest on the back of a brilliant win. The Giants haven’t got any reliable batter but will back their bowlers to make most of the conditions here. RCB Women, with an in-form skipper and middle-order, will have the edge in this contest and start as favorites in our match prediction.
