The ODI World Cup is over. Now it’s time to shift our focus to the T20 World Cup, slated to take place in June next year in the West Indies. Team India will kickstart their preparations for the event with a home series against Australia. The five-match T20I series, beginning November 23, will feature several players who weren’t part of the ODI World Cup.

In the absence of the recovering Hardik Pandya and his ankle injury, Suryakumar Yadav is set to captain India in the five-match T20I series against Australia. Surya has been India’s most prolific batter in the format and is expected to do well here. However, he had a forgettable World Cup, and it remains to be seen if that form affects his performance here.
Yashasvi Jaiswal can be one of the standout performers for India in this series. The talented youngster has impressed with every chance he has had and looks like a complete opener. He has scored 232 runs in 7 T20Is at an average of 38.66 and a strike rate of 161.
Ishan Kishan had to sit out for most of the World Cup, but will surely get a chance to shine here. The wicketkeeper batter is likely to play in the No. 3 position.
Also, watch out for Rinku Singh, the exciting finisher. He is an impact player, and we are backing him to do well here.
India’s bowling attack will be led by Arshdeep Singh in the absence of the regular bowlers. Prasidh Krishna is likely to share the new ball with him. This new ball opening pair doesn’t have much experience against quality batters and might leak runs against Australia’s formidable batting unit. Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, however, is the one you should keep an eye out for. The wristspinner has the knack for taking wickets and should do well here.

Matthew Wade is set to lead Australia in the five-match T20I series against India. Following the conclusion of the World Cup, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Cameron Green, and Mitchell Marsh will be heading home. However, key players like Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, and Travis Head are part of the squad.
Head, who was the player of the match in the World Cup final against India with a brilliant knock of 137 off 120 balls, will again be the man to watch out for. The aggressive opener has been in breathtaking form, and since he has been playing on these surfaces for the last month, he will certainly be someone who can make a big impact in this series too.
Glenn Maxwell is always dangerous and is a true game-changer in this format. But one batter India should be wary of is Tim David. He has a strike rate of 163 in T20Is and has the ability to take the game away from the opposition in a few overs. David will certainly target India’s inexperienced bowlers.
Australia’s bowling appears to be their weak link in this squad. Leg-spinner Adam Zampa will be their main weapon. He knows these surfaces well by now and was on great form in the recent World Cup. Left-arm quick Spencer Johnson has been given another shot to make an impact, along with leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha and the versatile all-rounder Matt Short.

The pitch at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam is a little on the slower side. It’s still a typically good Indian batting surface, but spinners get purchase here once the ball becomes softer, and stroke-making isn’t easy in the second part of the innings.
The game might be interrupted by a couple of ing showers, but we should still have a full match.

High TurnThe average first inning score at this ground is just 97 from three T20Is. In domestic T20s, the average score batting first here is 157. The highest total posted at the venue in T20Is is India’s 179-5 against South Africa in 2022. The team batting first in this game should look to set a target of around 180 runs to feel safe.
Two of the three T20Is played at this venue has been won by the side chasing. It’s very likely that the toss-winning team will choose to field first here.
India have won three of their last five T20Is against Australia. However, they will be playing with an almost new-look side and won’t start as automatic favorites for this series. Australia’s batting unit is still extremely strong and can easily take the game away from India if things go their way. India’s bowling attack will have their task cut out. However, India’s batters can target the relatively inexperienced Aussie bowling attack. That is where the Kangaroos might lose the game. Looking at the overall squads, though, we feel Australia has the edge in this encounter.
We are backing Australia to win the first T20I.
