India Capitals take on Southern Superstars in the 7th match of the Legends League Cricket in Dehradun as Gautam Gambhir hopes to avoid a hat-trick of losses.

In spite of a strong batting order with many match-winning performers, Gambhir’s Capitals found themselves on the losing end of the game on both occasions. They suffered a similar fate last season where they struggled to win matches. 

Superstars are coming into this on the back of a big loss. They failed to chase down a small target of 157 runs as they lost the match by 13 runs.

India Capitals Preview

India Capitals are on the verge of a hattrick of losses as they come to Dehradun. Gautam Gambhir looks in good touch year after year and has only gotten better with respect to his strike rates.

He leads a solid lineup of legends like Hashim Amla, Kevin Pietersen, and Ben Dunk to name a few. Legends League Cricket is different than your usual T20 league for the main reason that it features players who retired from international cricket long ago.

And that means you can’t rely on their performances even if they do exceptionally well in some games. Pietersen and Ashley Nurse led the comeback from India Capitals in their last game after they were 4 down for 43 runs.

While Amla still hasn’t found his touch, Kirk Edwards and Ben Dunk are other promising batters in the middle order to watch out for. The batting lineup is quite deep with Nurse at number 7 followed by Isuru Udana, a bowling all-rounder from Sri Lanka.

Udana also plays a key role with the ball along with World Cup-winning bowler Munaf Patel. And in the spin department, Nurse and Pravin Tambe are high-impact players to watch out for.

Ross Taylor is one of the best players to have ever played T20 cricket. He was well known for his clean and powerful striking over the midwicket for six which resembled a field hockey shot.

He failed to get going in the middle order in the season opener scoring just 12 off 11 at number 5. Nevertheless, he is a big impact player and on his best day, can singlehandedly turn the game on its head.

His former Kiwi teammate Jesse Ryder opens the innings for Superstars alongside Upul Tharanga. This is a solid opening pair and we expect a better start from the duo in this match.

Shrivats Goswami, member of the U-19 World Cup winning team under Virat Kohli, features in the middle-order as the wicket-keeper batsman. The short lad never made it big in IPL though he made his debut back in 2008.

Manvinder Bisla is a key batsman in the lower order. Another wicket-keeper bat, Bisla has plenty of experience and is known for leading KKR to their first title win in a successful run-chase against CSK in the final.

It is a well-balanced lineup and promises a strong comeback. However, the biggest strength of this team lies in their bowling attack. Abdur Razzak, Suranga Lakmal, and Hamid Hassan form a lethal bowling attack.
