The Lanka T10 Super League is finally set to begin after it was postponed last year due to some issues. The inaugural season will see 3 matches played every day.
Kandy Bolts will take on Galle Marvels in the 3rd match at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium in Pallekelle. It is a high-scoring venue and we expect some thrilling encounters on the opening day of the match.
There are many big-hitting players in both squads and we are in for a treat. Alex Hales and Andre Fletcher will be ones to watch out for in the Marvels’ lineup while George Munsey and Saim Ayub will be leading the batting effort for the Bolts.
Kandy Bolts have many batting all-rounders in the squad and we expect a strong middle order with big-hitting finishers. For the Marvels, there is great variety in the bowling department and they will have the luxury to try out different combinations in every game.

Kandy Bolts will be led by George Munsey in the first edition of the Lanka T10 Super League. They’ve got some very experienced players like all-rounder Thisara Perera and Dinesh Chandimal.
They may have not played a lot of T20 cricket of late, but can strike big and Perera is known for his finishing skills. Perera will be handy in the lower middle order.
We reckon the top order will feature the promising Saim Ayyub and Pathum Nissanka followed by the skipper George Munsey. It looks like a solid top-order and should be able to pile on plenty of runs in the first couple of overs and get the Bolts off to a flier.
In the middle order, we can expect batting all-rounder Chaturanga de Silva to come in at carry the momentum. He’s been quite impressive in the T20s and will be one to watch out for in the middle.
The likes of Dinesh Chandimal and Thisara Perera could fit in the lower middle order. Though they may not be ideal finishers considering their lack of consistent opportunities in T20s, it is a T10 game and the top 4 would play most of the deliveries.
In the bowling attack, Sekkuge Prasanna and Imad Wasim will be the key spin-bowlers while Shahnawaz Dahani will lead the pace attack for Kandy Bolts. There are many spin-bowling options in this squad and it remains to be seen how Munsey will strike a balance in the bowling attack.
George Munsey (c), Saim Ayyub, Pathum Nissanka, Chaturanga de Silva, Dinesh Chandimal (wk), Shehan Jayasuriya, Thisara Perera, Sekkuge Prasanna, Imad Wasim, Shahanawaz Dahani, Chamika Gunasekara

Galle Marvels have plenty of firepower in the batting lineup. The likes of Andre Fletcher and Alex Hales are known for their big-hitting abilities. These two will be looking to have a great time at a batting-friendly venue in Pallekelle.
There is also the batting all-rounder from Bangladesh Shakib Al Hassan who can deliver with both bat and ball. He’s a reliable and experienced all-rounder and can take the total even further when he comes in to bat.
The thing with this batting lineup is that it lacks the big names that most other teams in this tournament boast of. These three are the only big players who’ve played around the world for various T20 franchises.
Some of the new faces in the batting lineup will be Tadiwanshe Marumani, Sandun Weerakkody, and Chamindu Wickramasinghe. They will have some great roles to play in the middle order and one of them might even be the finisher for the Marvels.
There are some quality bowlers in this squad. That may be a great advantage in T20s but in this format of the game, almost all bowlers will be taken to the cleaners.
Luke Wood, Binura Fernando, and Kesrick Williams will be the key pacers in the bowling attack. Maheesh Theekshana will be the key wicket-taker to watch out for.
He is playing in familiar conditions and will be eager to make an impact with his spin bowling. The lack of bowling all-rounders will affect the depth in this batting order.

There will be scattered thunderstorms and showers in Pallekelle on the match day with a high of 26 degrees Celsius. However, the weather is likely to get clear towards the game time but if it has rained all day, it would be very difficult for the game to start on time.

It is a batting-friendly wicket at this venue that has witnessed many high-scoring thrillers in the past. The average 1st innings score in the last 10 T20Is is 178 runs. The highest score successfully chased in the recent T20Is on this ground is 197 runs. In this T10 game between the Bolts and Marvels, we reckon a 120+ score will be a match-winning total.
Teams batting first have won 2 of the last 3 T20 internationals. However, the bowling teams have enjoyed the upper hand in the domestic games winning 4 of the last 5 outings here. Moreover, in the T10 format, teams often prefer to chase down a total rather than defending one.
The likeliness of a match being played is quite low considering the weather forecast. However, if we do have a complete game, we expect the Kandy Bolts to have an upper hand given their overall squad strength. Kandy Bolts will start as favorites in our match prediction.
