Limpopo will play Mpumalanga Rhinos in the 15th match of the CSA T20 Knock Out Competition 2024 at Cricket Club Ground, Polokwane on October 6th, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. This is a home game for Limpopo and a great chance to their third win of the season against winless Mpumalanga Rhinos.
Limpopo have done well so far to feature in the top three teams, with 2 wins in 4 games and 9 points. However, the big defeat against KwaZulu-Natal Inland has hampered their NRR. The Mpumalanga Rhinos, on the other hand, are still searching for their first win. They are in sixth place and have the worst NRR so far among the seven teams. Can the Rhinos turn their luck and their first win against Limpopo?

South Western Districts beat Mpumalanga Rhinos by 5 wickets
144/5 in 28.4 5.02
Limpopo did not start the season well. They suffered a huge defeat by 73 runs against KwaZulu-Natal Inland. They came back strongly in the next two games to consecutive victories before losing to Easterns by 12 runs. Despite the up-and-down performances so far, Limpopo have maintained third position in the points table and must be looking to push further against another win against the Rhinos.
The win against South Western Districts was Limpopo’s best performance this season. Despite conceding about 70 runs in the first 9 overs without taking a wicket, Limpopo bowlers orchestrated a collapse that allowed South Western Districts to just about double the score in the remaining 11 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process.
Eldred Hawken and Don Radebe were the top bowlers, with 3 wickets each in a 4-over spell at a superb economy of under 4.5 runs per over. The chase was pretty straightforward. All the top 4 batters got the runs. Opener Morne Venter top scored with 64 runs off 45 balls, followed by a quickfire 36 runs by Louren Steenkamp. Limpopo reached the target in the 16th over with 6 wickets to spare.
In their previous game against the Easterns, a high-scoring contest ended in a loss for Limpopo by 12 runs, chasing 202. Morne Venter was the top scorer again with 66 runs. Despite the loss, Limpopo can beat anyone on their day based on their performances so far. The winless Rhinos should not trouble them much.

The Rhinos started the season with a washout, getting two points. That proved to be their high point so far in the tournament, as their next two encounters—against Northern Cape and Easters—ended in defeats. The comprehensive defeats mean they are closer to the bottom of the table, with the worst NRR at -1.025.
The first defeat came in a high-scoring game against Northern Cape. After conceding 220 runs bowling first, the Rhonos fell short by 18 runs despite a good effort from captain Muhammed Mayet. He scored 85 runs at a strike rate of above 185, however did not receive enough from the rest of the batting lineup to take the Rhinos over the line.
The Rhinos performed better with the ball in the second defeat against Easterns. But their batting let them down this time. Chasing 172, the Rhinos were restricted to 148 for 8 in 20 overs, thus losing the game by 23 runs. Jurie Snyman (55 runs) and Nonelela Yikha (37 runs) did fight, but the rest of the batting did not turn up. It's hard to see the Rhinos trumping Limpopo in this game.

The weather on the match day at Cricket Club Ground, Polokwane, is expected to be mild and partly cloudy. The day will start with a cool temperature of around 15°C and rise to about 26°C. While there’s moderate humidity, the chances of rain are absolutely zero. Overall, it is a pleasant day to play cricket.
The match will be held at Cricket Club Ground, Polokwane, a relatively new venue in South Africa that has been used since 2004-2005. It is the home venue for Limpopo. It’s a relatively small venue with a seating capacity of about 2000 spectators.
The conditions at Polokwane are quite even for batters and bowlers. The average first innings score hovers around 150. While the conditions are suitable for batting up, they also seam bowling better in the initial phases. Ideally, the team winning the toss should bat first here.
Limpopo had a mixed tournament so far, but their batters and bowlers have had slime good days. On the contrary, Mpumalanga Rhinos have underperformed massively. This seems to be a good opportunity for Limpopo to get back to winning after their previous defeat against table-toppers Easterns. We believe Limpopo will a win at home over Mpumalanga Rhinos.
We predict that Limpopo will defeat Mpumalanga Rhinos.
