We have seen some incredible hitting and some brilliant contests so far in the 2024 IPL but all of this has been taking place whilst Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, two big name sides in the history of the competition, have been struggling.
Between the pair, only Delhi Capitals have tasted victory when they beat the 2023 Champions Chennai Super Kings. But in some ways that makes it even more frustrating for their fans to see them take out a potential title-winner but then losing their other three!
Mumbai Indians gave an excellent of themselves in their opener against Gujarat Titans but ended up on the losing side and new skipper Hardik Pandya is still searching for his first win in the job.

Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets
You could almost feel the excitement and sense of relief from fans of Mumbai Indians on Friday when it was announced that Mr 360 himself and one of the cleanest strikers of a ball in cricket Suryakumar Yadav had ed up with the squad for the first time this season. 'SKY' may still not be at 100% fitness following his ankle injury but with the Impact Sub rule, we can surely expect to see him come in and do his thing with the bat in this game.
Another player who will be desperate to contribute and get his side moving with a victory is Jasprit Bumrah who has gone wicketless from his last two games. Mumbai Indians also have the likes of opener Rohit Sharma, skipper Hardik and spinner Piyush Chawla who must step up.
They have the players, can they now a win?
Mumbai Indians on average scored 58 runs in the powerplay overs this season. There have times where their openers were dismissed early but the scoring rate has always been on the higher side. With Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan playing aggressively in the powerplay overs expect Mumbai Indians to score over 52.5 runs in the first 6 overs.

Delhi Capitals got off to a bad start with the ball against Kolkata Knight Riders in their last game and were never able to recover. That was until the final over of the innings when Ishant Sharma saved the blushes of the side and prevented an IPL team total record by taking two wickets and conceding only eight runs!
It meant that the Capitals could afford no slip-ups in their chase and to be fair to their batters, they did go for it. But the pressure of a 270+ target was too much and, in spite of half-centuries from Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs, Ricky Ponting's side came in 106 runs short.
Ponting and Pant will be encouraging their players to simply forget about that outing and focus on this clash against a very beatable Mumbai Indians on Sunday afternoon.
The Dashing opener has provided flashy starts to Delhi Capitals this season and has been consistent with his performances. Warner has scored 148 runs in four matches at an average of 37.00. He has an incredible record against Mumbai Indians (717 runs in 21 matches) and at the Wankhede Stadium (264 runs in 9 matches). Given his recent form and record at the Wankhede Stadium, we back David Warner to score over 24,5 runs against Mumbai Indians.

This afternoon and evening fixture will be played out with bright sunshine and the temperature above 30 degrees from the first to the last ball. Humidity will not be an issue with the levels no higher than 30% throughout.

Average TurnThis is a pitch where batters do need to be careful, particularly at the start of their innings. The ball will turn and there will also be assistance for the quicks. Any total of 175+ will be very hard to chase down in the second innings.
The pitch at Wankhede Stadium favours the batsman, but in the last match, despite being a good batting surface, there was some moisture which proven to be a game changer for the bowlers. As today's game is going to be played in the afternoon, the pitch is going to be flat and dry, which generally favours the batsman. The square boundaries are relatively short, favouring the batsman. Expect a high-scoring game and we predict the total aggregate score to be over 354.5 runs
With 11 of the last 14 IPL fixtures at the Wankhede Stadium won by the teams chasing, it would be a huge surprise if either Hardik Pandya or Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to bat first on Sunday!
Neither side has got off to the start they wanted in the 2024 IPL but few pundits would be surprised if either team then went on a winning run and found themselves involved in the latter stages of this tournament. With Suryakumar Yadav returning to the Mumbai Indians team, we expect him to make the difference and we are predicting a home victory.
