This will be a bottom-of-the table clash as Melbourne Stars Women take on Melbourne Renegades Women at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Stars are seventh on the table with 10 points while the Renegades are at the very bottom with just 4 points. This will be the last league match for both teams, and they don’t have any chance to qualify for the playoffs. However, they still have pride to play for and will be looking to end the season on a high.

After struggling to get going for the most part of the season, Melbourne Stars Women have finally regained some momentum after ing two wins on the trot – against Brisbane Heat Women by 15 runs and Perth Scorchers Women by 33 runs.
Meg Lanning (284 runs in 11 innings at an average of 28.40) and Alice Capsey (283 runs in 11 innings at 21.76) have been the most successful batters this season for the Stars. Lanning sat out the last two games, and it is unclear whether she will take part in the final league match.
In the previous game, opener Sophia Dunkley impressed with a fluent 73 off 48 balls. Another impactful performance is expected from her.
Their bowling has revolved around primarily two players - Sophie Day (27 wickets in 13 innings at an average of 12) and Annabel Sutherland (23 wickets in 13 innings at 14.91). They have been excellent and one of the biggest highlights for the Stars in a disappointing season.

Melbourne Renegades Women have lost four of their last five matches. Moreover, they have managed just two wins in 13 games this season. It’s been a disastrous performance, and there will be much to look back on once the dust has settled on this season.
One of the shining stars for the Renegades this year has been Harmanpreet Kaur. The experienced Indian batter has smashed 320 runs in 13 innings at an average of 29 and a strike rate of 106.
Georgia Wareham has produced an outstanding performance as well, scoring 295 runs in 12 innings at an average of 32.77 and a strike rate of 134. Wareham has also grabbed 12 wickets with her legspin.
Among the bowlers, you should watch out for Sarah Coyte and Hayley Matthews, both of whom have taken 12 wickets each. Matthews has had an off-color season with the bat, but she has been on point with her offbreaks.

The pitch at the Melbourne Cricket Ground is a great one for T20 cricket, with something in it for both batters and bowlers. There is good bounce on the wicket, but that helps the batters too once they have got their eye in. The seam movement, however, might trouble them.
The weather in Melbourne will be a little cloudy and a bit pleasant overall.
The average score batting first in domestic women’s T20s is just 114. The highest total posted here is Melbourne Renegades Women’s 149-5 against Melbourne Stars Women. Clearly, this isn’t a high-scoring venue. A total of around 140 should be above par.
This will be the first match of the season to be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Eight out of the 12 domestic women’s T20s to be played here have been won by the chasing side. So we think the toss-winning side will prefer to field first.
The Stars have won three of their last four completed games against the Renegades. They have had a forgettable season, but it looks like they are all set to end it with a bang. They have clinched two wins on the trot, and looking at Renegades’ form, we reckon they should make it three out of three.
Back Melbourne Stars as the winners of this match.
