Sir Vivian Richards Stadium will be the location for the meeting between England and Namibia on Saturday afternoon. There is only pride at stake for Namibia, who have already been eliminated from the competition after only managing two points from the first three matches. England, meanwhile, are two points behind Scotland, who play against Australia in the final match. Due to the much better Net Run Rate (NRR), England remain confident of being able to overcome Scotland in the final group game.
After failing to get past the group stages of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, it is yet another tournament without progressing into the knockout stages for Namibia. Still, there have been several positives and the team will be looking to build on the same in the final round.
93/6 in 16.5 5.52
109/7 in 20.0 5.45
Namibia will feature in the final T20 World Cup 2024 game. It has been a decent competition for the Eagles having featured in the last three editions. Even though the loss against Australia was a demoralising blow with the team only managing to put up 72 runs on board, they have produced some decent performances over the group stages. The team took part in the first super over the T20 World Cup since 2012.
Even in the second game against Scotland, the team were able to set a very decent target only to be beaten narrowly towards the end. The big loss against Australia has put an end to any hopes of qualification.
Gerhard Erasmus has provided a big positive for Namibia with his excellent batting performances. He has picked up 100+ runs in the tournament so far and the 29-year-old was one of the few bright spots for Namibia against Australia with his 36 runs.
Ruben Trumpelmann has been Namibia’s top bowler in the tournament with five wickets. Against the impressive onslaught from Australians, he struggled without any wickets.

England still have hopes of qualifying for the Super Eight. The hopes have been boosted immensely by the big win over Oman. This has given England an edge over Scotland in the Net Run Rate (NRR) figures despite being two points behind the table. England need to rely on results from Scotland’s match against Australia to have any chance of qualification, but Matthew Mott’s team will be focused on achieving a victory in the game against Namibia.
A defeat in the game might be unlikely but England would be out of the competition for a second consecutive year at the group stages if such an eventuality occurs. England failed to get past the group stages of the ODI World Cup only last year.
England are big favourites coming into the game but they have been unable to dominate with the bat as they would have liked. Jos Buttler is the top player for England with the most runs but he has only managed 66 runs from his two innings.
Against the poor batting line-up of Oman, England bowlers were able to have a field day. Adil Rashid, Jofra Archer, and Mark Wood were able to pick up a combined 10 wickets.

After having witnessed a demolition job by England bowlers in the match against Oman, the expeditions will be for more of the same against Namibia. This pitch is favourable for bowlers and the likelihood of witnessing a big score is very low. The average first innings score on this ground is just 123. There is 70% potential for rain and it could hamper England’s hopes of qualification to the Super Eight.

The Sir Vivian Richards Stadium will be hosting its final group B game of the T20 World Cup 2024. After having experienced the venue in the big win over Oman, England will be pleasantly positive coming into the match. The pitch in Antigua has traditionally been favourable for the bowlers.
Even though the average first innings score is low, there will be plenty of assistance for bowlers – pacers and spinners alike. The team which wins the toss is likely to choose bowling first like England did in the win over Oman.
England were able to overpower Oman with extreme ease and they should be able to come up with a similar performance against Namibia. If England win the toss, they should elect to bat considering the favourable conditions. This might help them improve their NRR and even finish up the match in double-quick time.
