The defeat to current champions Lyca Kovai Kings is not something to be ashamed of as CSG came pretty close with a decent chase. However, they need to bounce back almost immediately and hope that their poor record against Nellai Royal Kings on this ground does not come back to haunt them.

Chepauk Super Gillies almost came close to getting a decent start to the season. However, the close defeat to Lyca Kovai Kings has put pressure on the team straight away. Last season, the team were able to get underway with two consecutive victories. Yet, the team could only finish fifth in the standings. The team are already trailing the defending champions just one game into the season. The margin for error has gone down drastically as a result.

Captain Baba Aparajith is likely to be the key player for Chepauk Super Gillies in the game. After emerging as the top scorer for the team with 283 runs from seven innings during the 2023 season, the 29-year-old has started in the 2024 edition in a positive fashion with 38 from 29 balls against Lyca Kovai Kings. The all-rounder could not pick up wickets and add to his decent return of seven last season.

Silambarasan was the star man for CSG with the ball after picking up 10 wickets from seven innings. However, he struggled for any impact in the opening match while Abhishek Tanwar turned out to be the key player with four wickets in four overs.
