This should be an excellent contest at Cricket Central as both New South Wales and South Australia have already defeated the 2023/24 Champions Western Australia and are desperate to test themselves against another team.
Another win for South Australia will really cause people to pay them some attention as that will mean that they have beaten last season's Marsh Cup finalists in their opening two games but that is easier said than done!
New South Wales are playing in front of their home crowd and have won the tournament three times since 2015/16. They have some exceptional batting firepower at the top of the order and will take some beating.

With an opening pair of Josh Philippe and Daniel Hughes, New South Wales will know that they can blow away many teams in the early stages of their batting innings. It was Philippe who did the damage against Western Australia in Match 1 of this campaign, hitting 139 against a very impressive bowling attack but the experienced Hughes, who is arguably playing the best cricket of his career, has had an excellent season in the UK with Sussex and he is extremely capable.
In the field, Tanveer Sangha, William Salzmann and Jack Edwards all took two wickets each against WA with Edwards the pick. He will have seen the bowler friendly conditions forecast and could well be very hard to score runs off let alone stop from taking wickets in this game!
Although they are up against another side who have beaten WA, NSW will be very confident of picking up another win.

Written off by many ahead of this campaign, South Australia made many so called cricket experts eat their word in the opening round of matches in this year's Marsh Cup by beating last year's champions Western Australia in a low-scoring classic here at Cricket Central.
As a result, Nathan McSweeney's side will be looking forward to returning to the same venue although will be hoping for a more comfortable winning margin than the two runs which secured the win over WA. Equally, the batting line-up will be looking to improve on their 166 all out!
With the bat, Daniel Drew (49) and Liam Scott (46) hit the bulk of the runs in the last game and more will be expected from McSweeney and opener Henry Hunt.
With the ball, Nathan McAndrew starred against Western Australia taking 5/40 and we predict he will be the main threat once again in this fixture.

According to the forecast, we may well end up with a reduced overs game in Sydney during this clash. Plenty of rain is expected throughout the day and temperatures will be around 14 degrees throughout.
We can always expect a lush green outfield at Cricket Central particularly at this early stage of the season. There will be pace in the wicket throughout the game and both sides can expect consistent bounce throughout.
With the weather likely to produce conditions more favourable for the bowlers, we predict that both captains will go out to the middle intending to field first if they win the toss on Thursday morning.
South Australia had a very poor season last year in this tournament and although they have already matched their number of wins from that campaign we expect them to be up against a much stronger side in this fixture. We are predicting victory for New South Wales in front of their home fans at Cricket Central.
