New Zealand clinched the series in Nelson as Bangladesh, despite Soumya Sarkar's courageous efforts, couldn't escape a second straight loss. The Kiwis have now taken an unassailable 2-0 lead with one match still to play. The third and final ODI of the series will be played at McLean Park in Napier, and the visitors will be desperate to make the scoreline 2-1.

Despite a spirited batting effort from Bangladesh in the second ODI, New Zealand went on to win the game with relative ease. Henry Nicholls hit 95 and Will Young continued his terrific form by smashing 89 to help chase down Bangladesh's total of 291 with almost four overs remaining.
Young now has 330 runs in his last 6 matches at an average of 55 and a strike rate of 96.
The Kiwis will also be happy that Rachin Ravindra (45 off 33 balls) is back among the runs. We expect the talented left-hander to make an even bigger impact in the final ODI, if he plays.
Finn Allen will be available for the final ODI. It will be interesting to see if New Zealand bring him in straightaway.
New Zealand’s bowling could have been a lot better in the second half of Bangladesh’s batting. They let things drift and couldn’t control the run flow. Still, Jacob Duffy and William O’Rourke, who claimed three wickets apiece in the previous ODI, can trouble the opposition batters again.
The management might try Ish Sodhi in the final match in place of Adithya Ashok. The leg-spinner can be pretty handy in the middle overs.

Opening the batting in the second ODI, Bangladesh had slipped to 80 for 4 in the 17th over. However, Soumya Sarkar (a career-best 169 off 151 balls) and Mushfiqur Rahim (45 off 57 balls) helped resurrect the innings, and took the team to a respectable 291. That didn’t prove to be enough in the end, unfortunately.
Bangladesh’s problem has been their inconsistent batting unit along with their listless bowling. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Litton Das really need to step up and make a statement. We feel one of these two will have a big role to play in the last match.
Mushfiqur Rahim is always reliable, and we can expect some useful runs from him in the middle order.
Their bowling attack, however, has flattered to deceive. Shoriful Islam has been decent, while Hasan Mahmud is struggling to control the flow of runs, despite picking up some wickets. What Bangladesh needs are some genuine wicket-takers, and that’s not been happening. Perhaps bringing back Mustafizur Rahman for the final ODI might help things a bit.

The pitch at McLean Park is regarded as batting-friendly, with some for the seam bowlers. The new ball will move around a bit and the bounce will be nice. But once the pitch settles down, stroke-making will become much easier.
The weather conditions in Napier are expected to be mostly cloudy during the match.
The average first innings score at McLean Park is 227. The highest ODI total posted at the venue is New Zealand’s 373-8 against Zimbabwe in 2012. The team batting first in this game should look to set a target of at least 280 runs.
27 of the 44 ODIs played at McLean Park in Napier have been won by the chasing side. Thus, it seems likely that the toss-winning team will choose to field first.
Bangladesh have looked hapless in this ODI series. Yes, they batted better in the previous game, but that was mostly due to the efforts of Soumya Sarkar. They are badly missing the services of their regular captain Shakib Al-Hasan. New Zealand, too, are without many of their main players, but they look a lot more balanced and confident. They are extremely difficult to beat at home, and this Bangladeshi team will need to do something extraordinary to overcome them.
New Zealand are favorites to make it 3-0.
