New Zealand will look to build on the momentum as they take on the Netherlands in the 6th game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. New Zealand has made an electrifying start to the tournament, demolishing defending champions England in their first game. The Netherlands lost their last match against Pakistan, but the side did raise the expectations with a good show in that game.

The Netherlands haven't previously defeated New Zealand in an ODI game. It will be on the players' minds, and they must overcome this to win here. New Zealand's batsmen looked terrific in the last game against England. The Dutch side has done well against big teams this year, and it will be interesting to see if they can cause an upset in this game.

New Zealand Preview

Skipper Kane Williamson missed the World Cup opener against England, but the side didn't miss him much as the Kiwis rode home to a 9-wicket win against the defending champions. Tom Latham will likely lead the side again, as New Zealand won't rush in the players and give them time to recover. They have made a commanding start to the tournament, and Latham would like to build on that as they face a relatively inexperienced side in this contest.

Will Young missed out in the last game and will look to deliver a positive start with Devon Conway, who scored a brilliant hundred. Rachin Ravindra played an electrifying knock and will look to add runs with Latham and Darryl Mitchell in the middle order. In the lower middle order, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, and James Neesham add firepower to this batting line-up.

It was a good show from the bowling unit despite missing the services of Tim Southee. The side will look for early wickets from Trent Boult and Matt Henry, who bowled well against England. Mitchell Santner and James Neesham must bowl tight spells in the middle overs. Ravindra, Mitchell, and Phillips add variety to the attack.

New Zealand Predicted Playing XI:

Kane Williamson (c), Devon Conway (wk), Will Young, Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, James Neesham, Glenn Phillips, Matt Henry

Netherlands Preview

Scott Edwards' side put up a spirited effort against the Pakistanis in their opening game. Though the side lost the game by 81 runs, there were lots of positives for them. They troubled the Pakistanis with the ball and shall look to improve their show in this game. Edwards would like to get good performances from his all-rounders, as they are the real strength of this team.

The side will hope for a good start in this game from Vikramjit Singh, who played well in the last game, and Max O'Dowd. The middle order has a lot of experience, and the side will need good performances from Colin Ackermann, Bas de Leede, and Teja Nidamanuru. Edwards is a good hitter, and he will look to add quick runs down the order with Saqib Zulfiqar and Logan Van Beek.

The new ball bowlers Logan van Beek and Aryan Dutt were brilliant in the last game, and the side will expect early wickets from them. Roelof van der Merwe, Ackermann, and Bas de Leede have crucial roles in the middle overs, as New Zealand batsmen will come hard at them. Saqib Zulfiqar and Vikramjit Singh add variety to this attack.

Netherlands Predicted Playing XI:

Scott Edwards (c & wk), Vikramjit Singh, Max O’Dowd, Colin Ackermann, Bas de Leede, Teja Nidamanuru, Saqib Zulfiqar, Logan van Beek, Roelof van der Merwe, Aryan Dutt, Paul van Meekeren

Weather Conditions

The skies over Hyderabad will be clear on October 9. The wicket has been flat here, and we have seen big scores. The slowness in the surface will make the batsmen think before playing their strokes. The side batting first would be happy to score more than 300 runs to feel safe.

NZ vs NED Pitch Report

Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, has a good batting surface. We have seen batsmen do well in the past as the ball comes to the bat nicely. There isn't much on this track for the fast bowlers, who must rely on their variations. Spinners have enjoyed the conditions and have been successful here.

Toss: To Bowl

The wicket was slightly tricky in the last game as the ball stopped on the batters. Putting up a big score on such a track is always challenging, and teams prefer chasing scores on such surfaces. The side winning the toss would look to bowl first and restrict the opponents to a small total.

The Netherlands got a taste of playing in the big league in the last game. They played well in parts, but that won't be good enough against a strong side like New Zealand. The batters must show more intent for the side to win. It was a textbook win for New Zealand in the last game. They have a strong batting line-up and a lot of experience in the bowling attack. It puts them ahead of the Netherlands.
