The New Zealand tour of Bangladesh is the last series they play before the World Cup and this is extremely crucial as both teams will look to get their team selections and combinations correct before the World Cup begins.

New Zealand came into the ODI series on the back of some heavy losses against England. They will be glad that they won the 1st ODI as touring Bangladesh isn’t an easy task. They will want to carry on this momentum and seal the series in the next game.

Bangladesh on the other hand, is also coming back off quite a disappointing Asia Cup. They will want to make a comeback and make sure they have all bases covered for the World Cup.

Bangladesh Preview

After the washed-up game in the 1st ODI, the second ODI was quite crucial for the Kiwis as they were coming off quite a disappointing series in England. They will be quite glad with the win in the 2nd ODI and will want to continue this momentum.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, New Zealand didn’t get off to the best of starts as they lost quite a few early wickets. The batsmen got off to starts but could not convert it into a huge one, as they got bowled out for 254 runs. Tom Blundell was the top scorer with 68 runs.

Defending the target ended up being quite easy as they ran past through the Bangladeshi batting order. Bowling them out for 168 runs was a magnificent effort and will do their confidence a world of good. Ish Sodhi was the star as he picked up 6 wickets.

New Zealand Preview

Bangladesh has been one of the best teams when playing at home. They will want to continue that streak but will be quite disappointed with their performances in the previous ODI.

Bangladesh lost the toss and were put into the field. They got off to a really good start picking up early wickets. They did not let the Kiwi batsmen get off to a huge score as they picked wickets at regular intervals. Mehdi Hassan was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets to his name.

The batting department had a score of 255 to chase and would have felt quite confident as well. They looked on course to the target but their middle order completely collapsed getting bowled put for 168 runs. Mahmudullah was the top scorer with 49 runs.

Key Players: Tamim Iqbal, Litton Das, Mustafizur Rahman, Mahedi Hasan

New Zealand Predicted Playing XI:

Tamim Iqbal, Litton Das(w/c), Tanzid Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Mahmudullah, Towhid Hridoy, Mahedi Hasan, Khaled Ahmed, Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud

BAN vs NZ Pitch Report

The Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka has a crowd capacity of 25,000 people. The stadium is not quite famous for high-scoring matches, but with the pitch getting slower batting second gets difficult unless there is dew

Toss: To Bowl

As both teams possess a strong batting unit, teams will look to win the toss and bowl first and chase down the target. The record on this ground also suggests the same as the team bowling first has won 67 out of the last 129 games played here.

This series is extremely important for both teams given the World Cup around the corner. New Zealand will be mighty please with their performance in the 2nd ODI and will look to continue to do so. Bangladesh on the other hand will not go without a fight as they will have a point to prove and win on their home ground.

We predict that Bangladesh will defeat New Zealand.
