The writing appeared to be on the wall for an opening game defeat for RCB when Glenn Maxwell was dismissed for a golden duck, only four balls after Rajat Patidar had gone also without scoring and left them at 42/3. And with Virat Kohli and Cameron Green both dismissed with the score yet to reach 80, CSK were romping to a victory. However, RCB showed that they have more than just their global superstars when Anuj Rawat (48 runs from 25 balls) and Dinesh Karthik (38 not out from 26 balls) got them to 173/6.
Ultimately, that total wasn't enough against a strong CSK but RCB should take heart from how well they did even without significant contributions from any of their top three - Faf du Plessis, Kohli and Maxwell.
Their time will come and few would be surprised if it comes in this game.
The captain of RCB scored 35 runs in 23 balls in the last game against CSK. He looked in good touch and was timing the ball well. His record against Punjab Kings is phenomenal (796 runs in 15 matches; avg - 61.23) and at Bengaluru (435 runs in 11 matches; avg - 62.14). Given his records and recent form we back Faf du Plessis to come good and score over 28.5 runs against Punjab Kings.

Fans of Punjab Kings have seen plenty of previous false dawns and so they will not be getting ahead of themselves after their impressive win against Delhi Capitals on Saturday. That said, if they can back that victory up with another one in Bengaluru then we may well see some ers starting to dare to dream!
The English pair of Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone delivered with the bat after Arshdeep Singh and Harshal Patel had taken two wickets each with the ball.
But just like their opponents in this game, there is still plenty more to come from the likes of Kagiso Rabada and Jonny Bairstow who could take Punjab Kings up another level or two.
In the last match against Delhi Capitals, Prabhsimran Singh impressed with a quickfire 26 off 17 balls, including five fours. Known for his consistent run-scoring, and with the batsman-friendly pitch and short square boundaries, we expect Prabhsimran Singh to continue his form and sur the 25.5 run mark against RCB.

It looks set to be a very warm evening in Bengaluru with the temperature unlikely to fall below 28 degrees after starting up in the low thirties. It will be mainly clear skies with minimal humidity throughout.

Average TurnAny score over 185 will be hard to chase down in the second innings of this game but there will be some assistance for the bowlers, particularly the quicks at this venue. Expect to see ionate fans getting behind RCB every step of the way throughout this game.
M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is known for its high-scoring games, and we expect no difference this season in the first home game for RCB in the 2024 IPL season. The average total aggregate score last season in Bengaluru was 383 runs. Our prediction is for the total aggregate score to be over 349.5 runs.
With Punjab Kings winning when chasing and RCB losing after batting first, we predict that both sides will want to bowl first if they win the toss ahead of this match. Historically, fielding first has been the most successful way to go at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium but not by a particularly large margin.
This has all the ingredients to be a fascinating contest. Punjab Kings pulled off a surprise win on Saturday and no doubt will relish the tag of underdog again in this clash. However, we expect the powerhouse trio at the top of the order for RCB to do the business with the bat in this game. We are predicting victory for RCB.
We are backing RCB to win!
