Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat, the two best teams of the tournament, are all set to do battle for the ultimate prize- the BBL trophy. BBL13 has been one to for the fans, where teams renewed their rivalry, new crop of players emerged to put on a scintillating display of T20 cricket.
But these two teams in particular played a different brand of cricket than the rest. And now they’re here for the big dance. Their only encounter in the regular season ended up with the Heat narrowly defeating the Sixers in a rain affected game. But the Sixers wouldn't be too worried about it.
It’s a fresh day. It’s the final and the SCG is going to be lit come Wednesday evening, where the biggest match of this Australian summer is all set to unfold. Both teams will be eager to take the field and go hard at each other. So who will come up trumps at the end? Who will get to lift the BBL 13 trophy?

The Sixers may not have ended their league stage holding the pole position, but they're clearly on a roll having won four games on the bounce.
A harrowing defeat in the hands of Brisbane Heat at home in the Challenger final last year, which knocked them out of the competition, will definitely be on the back of the mind of the Sixers’ players. But the Sydney Sixers players have the home advantage again and will make sure they don’t make a hash of it this time around.
Dependable opener Daniel Hughes brings great solidity to the top, while Jack Edwards, known for scoring his runs quickly, is due for a big knock. If both of them find their feet quickly during the power play when the field restrictions are on, they can give them a huge platform to build on. Josh Philippe, at #3, is still scratchy, but, thankfully for the Sixers, captain Moses Henriques has found form finally. He led the charge with the bat with some crucial contributions against the Scorchers at Perth and the Heat at Carrara oval, helping Sixers get over the line in the last 2 matches.
The Sixers have looked far more comfortable and convincing the whole season with the bowling which is clearly their strong suit. Left arm pacer Ben Dwarshuis ran through the Brisbane Heat batting order in the qualifier at the Carrara Oval, taking a 5-for in a match-winning performance. The Sixers spinners Steve O’Keefe and Todd Murphy didn't have a lot of work to do in that match, but they will feel right at home at the SCG where the surface generally tends to offer more assistance to slow bowlers.

The Heat have now made the finals 2 times in a row, however they would’ve liked to have put in a better performance against the Sixers in the qualifier at home and get to the final the easier way.
They did get the better of the Strikers at the Carrara Oval on a difficult strip where almost all the batsmen from both sides found life extremely difficult, except big hitting Josh Brown who bludgeoned 22 boundaries on his way to scoring a whopping 140 from 57 deliveries- the highest individual score in a final in BBL history. Captain Nathan McSweeney played second fiddle, scoring 30 odd runs to set up an important opening partnership and give a base for the batsmen to launch from. The incoming batsman, however, ended up throwing away their wickets cheaply without adding too many runs to the total . But 214 on that strip was always going to be a stiff task for the Strikers who really heavily on their top 3, and once they lost them their chase lost steam.
Xavier Bartlett, the leading wicket taker this season, wasn’t as impactful as he was in the other fixtures but big left arm bowler Spencer Johnson cranked the pace up and troubled the top 3 batsmen, sending them back to the hut before they could get their eye in. And he snuffed out the chase single-handedly right there.
The conditions in Sydney are expected to be different so the Heat might consider bringing in Mitch Swepson into the attack if the need arises.

The pitch for Wednesday’s grand finale is expected to be a belter. All the four spinners from either teams will be interested in how much spin they can extract from this surface which is generally slow and low. If the wicket stays true to its character, they will be put in to the attack sooner. The forecast is looking good for the evening too, making it an exciting clash.

Minimal TurnThe BBL13 final is goint to be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney. The Sixers have turned the SCG into a hard-to-breach fortress, having won 12 of their last 14 matches here. It’s important to note that one of those 2 defeats came when they met the Heat in last year's Challenger.
Sydney Sixers have won 14 times against Brisbane Heat overall, of which 10 came in a chase. The Heat, given their recent troubles chasing and a thumping win over the Strikers in the Challenger while setting a total, wouldn’t mind batting first either.
Sydney Sixers pulled off an unbelievable chase against the Scorchers at Perth and followed it up with brilliant victory against the Heat on the Gold Coast to get the hosting rights for the final. They squandered the home advantage in the Challenger last season going down to the Heat, but they look like they won’t this time around. Sydney Sixers to win.
