As the series progresses, Welsh Fire is now all geared up to take on Oval Invincibles in the sixth game at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff on 28th July from 11:05 pm onwards.
Welsh Fire ed an 8-wicket win over Manchester Originals in their first game of The Hundred. Bowling first, Welsh Fire restricted the Originals to 86 for the loss of 8 wickets. After getting an ideal start, Welsh Fire will now have a tough challenge against the Invincibles. Tom Kohler-Core & Jonny Bairstow will open the innings for the Welsh Fire. Kohler-Core played seven games last season for Trent Rockets scoring 147 runs at a strike rate of 125.64. Bairstow has 233 runs for Welsh Fire in as many games as his opening partner. Joe Clarke will come at number three. Clarke is their leading run-scorer in the absence of Ben Duckett with 318 runs. His highest score of 69 runs came against the Invincibles last year. He will be the player to watch out for.
Skipper Tom Abell will lead the middle order with Glenn Phillips & Luke Wells. In 15 innings, Phillips has scored 312 runs for the Welsh Fire at a strike rate of 139.28. On the other hand, Wells has the highest strike rate (162.68) among the Fire batters. The experience of David Willey as a batter can come in handy if the middle-order fails to the Invincibles’ attack.
Willey will lead the bowling unit with David Payne and Joshua Little. Willey was the player of the match in the first game for his three wickets. Payne has 19 wickets in 23 Hundred games so far. Joshua Little who missed Ireland’s test against Zimbabwe played his first game for the Fire. He took two wickets for 21. Jake Ball will be another bowler to look out for. Jacks is Invincibles’ leading run-scorer in The Hundred with 640 runs at a strike rate of 164.52. He is the only player to have a century. Jacks also has 8 wickets with the ball. He will be the player to watch out for. Malan who had a difficult season last year while playing for Trent Rockets, scored 24 in the first game. Tawanda Muyeye will come at number three. Muyeye impressed everyone with his impactful innings of 23 runs in 14 balls against Pheonix.
Skipper Sam Billings will play in the middle with Sam Curran and Donovan Ferreira. Billings has 390 runs in 24 innings at a strike rate of 137.80. While all-rounder Sam Curran has 318 runs with the bat and 16 wickets with the ball. The Invincibles should include Tom Curran in the playing eleven. Curran was the player of the match in their last game against the Welsh side.

Traditionally, the pitch is known for being slow and low, offering significant assistance to spinners as the game progresses. The surface tends to dry out quickly, creating cracks that aid spin bowlers in extracting turn and bounce. Batsmen may find it easier to score during the initial phase of the game when the pitch is fresh and hard.

The Test will be played at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff on 28th July from 11:05 pm onwards. The venue has hosted 3 Tests, 31 ODIs & 10 T20Is.
This will be the first game of the season hosted by this venue. In 10 T20Is the team chasing the target has won 7 times. The stats are almost the same when it comes to ODI. The team winning the toss should bowl first here.
This will be an intense game as both teams have started their season with dominating victories. But Invincibles have the champions mentality. They have never lost a game against Welsh Fire. They have a better bowling unit compared to the hosts. If will Jacks come to the party, it will be impossible for Welsh Fire to win against the champions.
We predict that Oval Invincibles will defeat Welsh Fire.
