West Indies Preview

Rovman Powell's team has stormed into the Super 8s of the tournament with three consecutive wins. They defeated New Zealand by 13 runs in their most challenging game and shall feel confident. Their batsmen are in good form, and the bowling attack has also done well. Powell would expect his side to win this game by a big margin and enter the next round in style.  

Brandon King and Johnson Charles will look to set up an explosive partnership at the top and take on the Afghan bowlers. The side has a strong middle order and shall expect a good performance from Nicholas Pooran, Roston Chase, and Powell. Sherfane Rutherford, Akeal Hosein, and Andre Russell are good hitters, strengthening the batting lineup in the lower middle order.   

The Afghans have batted well in the tournament, and West Indies need early wickets from the new-ball pair of Akeal Hosein and Romario Shepherd. Alzarri Joseph and Gudakesh Motie bowled well in the last three games, and the side will expect tight spells from them in the middle overs. Russell and Roston Chase add variety to the attack, making it strong.

Afghanistan Preview

Rashid Khan and his men will feel confident heading into this game. They have won the last three games and come here with a 7-wicket win against Papua New Guinea. They will face a tough challenge against the hosts, especially their bowlers. Khan would like a clinical performance from his players in this game so that they can enter the next round with high confidence.  

Openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran have done well at the top, and the side needs a steady show. The middle order has done well in the tournament, and they can expect partnerships between Gulbadin Naib, Mohammad Nabi, and Azmatullah Omarzai. Najibullah Zadran, Karim Janat, and Rashid Khan complete a strong batting lineup for the team and add to its firepower.  

The bowling attack has been at its best in the last three games, and they expect early strikes from Fazalhaq Farooqi and Mohammad Nabi. Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia, is famous for being a batsman-friendly ground. The smaller boundaries make it easy to score runs with a flat surface. There is little for the fast bowlers on this surface, while spinners who toss the ball up have done well here.
