One of the newly built stadiums and the new home of Punjab Kings in the IPL, Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, also known as New Punjab Cricket Association Stadium is located in Mullanpur Village near Mohali and is named after Yadavindra Singh, who was the last Maharaja of Patiala.
In March 2010, the Punjab Cricket Association said they would build a new international cricket stadium in Mullanpur village, near Mohali. The stadium would cover about 42 acres and cost ₹230 crore (US$29 million). The stadium was inaugurated in IPL for the first time in the year 2024 where Punjab Kings played their first match in their new home.
The stadium can hold up to 38,000 people and has bright flood lights for night games. It has a special drainage system made like a herringbone pattern, which can quickly remove rainwater in about 25 to 30 minutes. The field is made of sand instead of regular soil. Sand makes the field more stable but is harder to take care of.
Inside, there are two high-quality dressing rooms for the players. These rooms have steam, sauna, and ice bath facilities, along with a gym that has all the equipment needed. The stadium also has a good media center, modern waiting areas, and gates that control the flow of people.

Mullanpur Cricket Stadium Pitch Report
The pitch at Mullanpur offers a balanced track with assistance to both batters and bowlers. The surface is made up of black soil which favours the pacers and batters can also score runs quickly. The venue hosted five IPL games last season and in none of the matches the total crossed the 200 run mark, with the highest score being 192/7 by Mumbai Indians against Punjab Kings.
Three of the five matches have recorded over 170 runs, while the other two matches were low scoring. Teams chasing won three of the five matches last season and expect a similar kind of surface this season, where bowlers get assistance early in the game and as the match progresses it becomes easier for the batsman to score runs, especially in night matches.
In afternoon matches, spinners will come into play in the second innings and they can be mighty effective as the surface becomes much slower and sticks onto the surface making it difficult for run-scoring. Teams often choose to bowl first in afternoon games and viceversa in night matches.
