The series will also mark the return of some star players for Pakistan. Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah will be making their comeback to the squad. These three players were excluded from the last 2 Tests against England and the board wanted to give them some rest.

Mohammad Rizwan will have Salman Ali Agha as his deputy.

"I am committed to giving my absolute best in this role and look forward to working closely with the selectors, coaches and my immensely talented teammates," a statement released by the PCB to Rizwan stated.

Two players who were surprisingly omitted from the squad are Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq. The duo were also absent from the central contract from the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Mohammad Hasnain is also absent from the central contract, but he will be present for the ODI and T20 series in the squad. Shadab Khan has been dropped from the squad and he will be replaced by left-arm wrist-spinner Sufiyan Muqeem.
